Sorry theater seating in 2023 Cougar 22MLS
Turns out we do not have Thomas Payne or Ashley theater seats, but something called Allure/CW Design. The phone number is a message box, and it is now full. They do not return phone calls.
In trying an internet search, it appears that Allure is a Asian based company that appeared in 2019 and there is very little info about them, and I do not know if they are even still in business.
But they were apparently around long enough to sell some of their junk to Cougar.
The problem is you cannot get the footrest to stay up unless you fully recline the chair and then it is hard to keep it there. Keystone is no help so far. There are no adjustments to be made on the seats.
Additionally, the release strap slides down and you have to dig for it. Keystone furnished the junk and told me to contact the vendor. Not going to work that way. They furnished a non-functioning product in their trailer.
Keystone has not heard the last of me.

I am guessing we have located another low bidder vendor?

Did you contact the dealer and what did they say? I figure you will be stuck with that brand but I would ask the dealer to take some out of another new trailer if you bought it from them.

Dealer said they were all that way and you just had to learn to live with them.

Did you per chance just go into a few of those trailers to see if that was correct? I don't know the dealer but I do know a lot of folks that work, or worked, at dealerships and I wouldn't trust some of them to assess anything.

We have Thomas Payne theater seats in our unit. They are built for folks in the 5' to 5'8" range and they will work well in that range. DW is 5'3" and has no issues but my 6'4" body does not get the best treatment. I have to be full back in the seat for the footrest to stay up when reclined. They are made smaller/cheaper to maximize profit. Just look at how high the backrest is and it will tell you what height it is made for.
Home recliners can be like that also.

We are spoiled a bit, but knew we were getting less than or NUWA HitchHiker Champagne....but certainly did not expect this low....furniture that is non-functional. My wife is 5ft 4 in and I am 5 ft 11 in. The seats work for neither of us.
In our previous house and the full time trailer we had La-Z-Boy recliners.

I had a Lazyboy reclining loveseat in my camper (since replaced with two recliners). The Lazyboy backs come off and are easy to get through a camper door. If you can buy a chair online (such as eBay/Amazon) the back will come off. This is pretty much what we use in the camper:

Went by the dealer today and tried 4 other theater seats of the same manufacturer. None worked properly.
I'll fight with Keystone to get credit to replacecwith fu coronal seats. Otherwise I guess I am out the money to replace them with a functionable seat.

Some of these things are known at purchase. I had them replace the tires on mine before I took possession...about $1100 IIRC because I don't like OE tires. Had the entire suspension replaced at just over 1 year because I don't like the OE suspension - that was over 7k. Toilet? Replace and etc, etc. etc. - it's part of the process. They build what people will buy/pay for and if we want more we pay for it....they're not custom built high dollar units....unless you are buying one....and Keystone doesn't make them.

Sourdough, do you not expect to receive a safe and workable product from a supplier? By your approach, I presume if you bought a box of cereal and a quart of milk for breakfast and get it home and find the cereal has bugs and the milk is soured, you just chalk it up and go back and buy more cereal and milk at your expense or would you be back at the store for replacement cereal milk that were suited to your purpose? Tasty and healthy?

When it comes to RVs I expect to get whatever it is....hoping that between my good luck, personal inspection and the dealership I get a decent, workable product. I "expect" to find problems....and do every time. I "expect" the dealer to fix them and they have every time. I expect that both I and they will overlook something...and we invariably do. I don't however "expect" things to happen that I know won't and I don't waste a lot of time on things like that. If one wants to spend large amounts of time being upset over something they can do nothing about, spend large amounts of time beating their heads against a wall trying to make people do things they're not going to....that's fine but I've got better things to do. In this case I would have thought the recliners would have been checked out in the PDI and the issue noted since it is that way from the factory.....

Sourdough, I hear you, and they've really questioned at PDI and were assured that they took some getting use to. They are simply a cheap piece of junk to fill in a hole and being denotes as theater seats.
I'll fuss at Keystone but will probably wind up buying a functional seat and see if I can u load the junk on Market place.

Buying RVs requires a different mindset if a person wants to stay sane. They aren't built like a car, don't get the QA a car does, don't have the factory support a car does....they're a completely different animal. The first new one I bought I went at it like someone was going to make the trailer fit my expectations....now that was a hoot...and a joke. Fast forward several decades and I know what to expect which is what I posted previously. Just like the tires, suspension, toilet etc. I've replaced on this one right out of the gate; I knew the OE stuff wasn't what I expected but it's what they provide and I bought it that way knowing I was going to be out the expense of putting what I wanted on it to meet my expectations. It's sad but I just take it in stride now...it's much, much better than giving myself an ulcer trying to fix something that I'm never going to fix.

When buying an RV, the sleeper couch and mattress are the first items to get replaced in many cases and if there is a Thetford toilet, that thing is gone as well. Keystone supplies these things and they are unacceptable. Part of the RV lifestyle I guess. Since I have never owned a NEW trailer, I generally have also ended up replacing the tires which are generally outdated and probably not great quality. If you don't like the stuff Keystone sells, check the other comparable brands and they too are full of low bidder junk.
