Trailer King Tires

Anybody have comments on this brand, good or bad?
I have 225/75R15s on my outback...

If they are as old as your trailer (2015) I would be on my way to a tire store.
Pick a brand in no particular order: Goodyear Endurance, Carlisle Radial Trail HD (new design), or maybe Maxxis as the last choice of the 3.
WalMart usually can't be beat on the Carlisle, free shipping to your store and free mounting.

Yes, the Trailer Kings are likely the OEM tires. If they've lasted since 2015 then:

A. You've done well
B. It's time to replace them

Most on this forum seem to swear by Goodyear Endurance or Sailun. You could likely get by with an "F" rated tire but I would just go with "G" and play it safe. You won't be sorry

First, if those are OEM tires they sure need to come off.

2nd, if they are LRD tires as the spec I saw called for, go to a higher load range for sure.

I won't go into the merits of the Trailer King tire. I would suggest just search Trailer King on the forum and I'm sure you'll find several days reading.

I've used a lot of different brands of ST tires but not that one. However, you've aged them out and need new ones. I'm not a brand recommender. Your new tires should be LRE. There is a LRF available but it would surely require upgraded wheels.

Nothing bashful about my brand recommendations: Avoid Trailer King like the Coronavirus. Serious trash. 2 years old and caused 9K damage on our Raptor.

Here's what the inside of 2 year old Trailer King tires looked like. No way to inspect for this kind of catastrophic damage with the tire mounted on a wheel at recommended pressure, and no way to know that the tread was separating from the carcass. This was my TK tires in 2016 when I took them off my Cougar. They were "time bombs waiting to explode"... NEVER AGAIN !!!!!

Alrighty then...lol. I was gonna say they only have about 4k miles and were stored indoors but I was afraid you all would have horror stories anyway. And I was right to be afeared of them.
I bought Goodyear endurance for my last trailer and went from Cs to Ds only because the wheels matched the load. I'll have to check out what these wheels are good for to see if I can up the tires a bit.
Thanks for all the comments, which are unanimous!
BTW, this unit may suffer from non-use. I think the dump seals are leaky also. I'm just getting into it and am not sure what else I may find wrong...

Look at the backs of the wheels; I figure they will handle 80psi LRE tires.

If it has sat a long time and no one used it be sure and check ALL seals; slides inner/outer/bottom/top, fixture fittings, propane connections and as important the roof sealing/Dicor.

I’ll add another vote for Goodyear Endurance. For sure it’s time to replace the TKs.

He has 15" rims and Sailuns are not an option. If he goes from D to E load rating, doubt the rims will blow up (probably 5 lug) if he uses LRE tires at 80 lbs. I have been doing this for quite a few years on my Cougar. Everyone is on the Endurance bandwagon; I use Carlisle Radial HT and have great luck with them. On my second set on this trailer. They are easy to source (like Walmart) around where I live; Maxxis and Endurance not as much. Most small independent tire shops have off brands and I would be leery of those no matter how heavy they feel or what the tire seller says about them.

If the winter weather has you bummed out do a search for "Trailer King". You'll have years of reading to keep you going.

I think the trailer manufacturers are doing us a disservice by providing cheap and dangerous tires as OEM

Even if those tires where the best, most expensive ST tires. They still would need to be replaced. And I have not even seen them.
AGE, age, age is the factor to replace most ST tires. Few wear them out with mileage.
Since you asked, I would buy a better tire. You were given good brand names. Replace the spare also, why? Age, age age. It is also time to replace it if even if it has never been on the road.
Did anyone mention how you learn the date of build on a tire? Those 4 numbers really are best to determine when to replace ST tires under normal use.

The point is that even aside from the brand, ALL brands of ST tired should be replaced at 5 years old, max. And a 2015 model likely has tires that were made sometime in 2014. So you need to replace them purely on age, regardless of their brand. And them being an inferior brand makes it even more important to replace.

^^^^ What Ken said
I like my Carlisle Radial trail HD tires, that's what's going on the new rig.

True...the dot date code is from 2014 so they will be replaced before we go somewhere and Trailer King is not going back on. When is discount tires next holiday sale, presidents day?
And who/where are carlisles from? I've not really heard of them.

Carlisle is one of the oldest builders of ST tires. Over the years they have had their ups & downs. Right now they're on the up swing. Their ST tires are built in a Carlisle plant in China.

Good news, I have 6 lug wheels. Bad news, I have to remove them to see the wheel ratings. Add that to my to do list.
