New To Forum: Flooring Issue on 2014 Laredo 240MK

On our last trip out west, I had a 4" wood screw pop up in the center of the camper floor about centered front to back & side to side. Took it into shop when got back in town, and was told to just add some epoxy and screw it back in. Well, time didn't permit doing that before a short trip, and not sure it was the right response anyway. I now have noticed "soft" spots or perhaps "spongy" in the floor near where the screw popped out.

I wanted to check with the experts out there to see if anyone has encountered this & perhaps ideas on how to repair. I am thinking there is a connection, but not sure it a wise idea to attempt to peel the underbelly cover off to see what really is going on, and don't want to spend a fortune taking it into a shop.

I know you RV experts have some good advise as I have read a number of the threads.

Thanks!

I wonder if you have a water leak that could be causing the issues?

You must of had the screw out to know it was 4" long, and you say it was a wood screw. The Length and type gives indication that it was holding the floor to the frame. When it was out did you notice any moisture? When securing the screw did it tighten properly? It is a human tendency when something goes wrong to find, or imagine, additional faults. I all the time think our floors are soft, then I realize I am in the RV and not on a concrete floor.

Once the screw is in place and tight here is how I repair floors. Go under anything like couches, cupboards, under the bed anywhere you can find a 2 or 3 inch square with a pattern match and cut it out. Place it over the bad spot cut it out using the patch as a pattern. Glue in place. If you did a good job the seams should be barely visible. To seal the edges try some krazy glue. Don't glue your fingers to the floor!

Hope everything works out, Good Luck

Thanks for the replies! Actually the screw popped out three days in a row and I screwed it back in. The first couple times it went back in tight. Now it is just resting in the hole. Since the spongy floor is only near where the screw is and not elsewhere, I was thinking it was securing the floor boards, even though the dealer said it wasn't. I didn't notice any evidence of moisture anywhere yet. My gut is telling me there is more going on than a single screw working its way out, but w/o any eyes on it, can't tell. Thanks again for the replies, much appreciated!
