Tank sizes
Looking at Passport SL trailers and noticing a significant difference between the 219BH and the west coast edition 219BHWE tank sizes. The floor plans are the same.
Anyone have a guess as to why?

Previous trailer was a 'WE' and recall digging into the differences between the two lines myself. I believe one of the reasons mentioned (probably from this site) was that the Western editions were set up more for "4-season" and boondocking use. Larger tank sizes would definitely be an advantage to the dry camper, so sounds plausible to me.

The biggest difference between East and West coast builds is the availability of the building materials themselves. The actual materials used to build the two flavors of the same trailer are different because of geographical differences. More than likely, the suppliers of the tanks don't carry the exact same size as the counter part across the country. Thus, the REAL reason for the difference in sizes.

This is only partly true, and somewhat explained in the post referenced by Chuckster. Yes, material differences play a role so that weights and capacities can be balanced, but availability of certain tank sizes are not regional-specific as evidenced by both Eastern and Western Models having the same sized tanks across numerous models/floorplans. The key factor is that when you increase the freshwater tank capacity, you have to increase the wastewater tank capacities a corresponding amount.
The Western Editions all tend to have larger freshwater tanks to accommodate camping without city water hook-ups, so the waste tanks have to increase in capacity as well. The added allowance for this "extra" weight in turn requires that weight be reduced somewhere else, and that could be manifested in lighter countertops, cabinet doors, interior and exterior accessories, sinks and plumbing fixtures.

I don’t know guys. Best I can tell they are identical except the tanks. The WE edition is 1 pound lighter.
I don’t “need” the extra capacity but having it available would be nice.

Besides the larger fresh tank my 23 Passport GLWE came with 15" wheels. The eastern made ones list a 14" wheel.

Yup, our East version Passport has 14" wheels. Maybe the pot holes are deeper out West?

Yes, WE has 15” wheels. Eastern has 14”, for some reason.
