New tires are next

While on way home from a trip had first blow out. Time to replace the trailer king tires. So tomorrow going to call around for a price on 5 new ones. Currently have trailer king tires Trailer king rst St225/75r15 e Load range E. So if I am correct I need to purchase the good year endurance T225/75R15 E 117/112N BSW. Or Carlisle Radial Trail HD Trailer Tire-225/75R15 117M 10-ply. Am I correct.

That's about it. I tried them both when I had my Passport and I prefer the Carlisle

i ordered my Carlisle tires from Amazon…very good price and arrived promptly with recent date codes…i’d get 5 tires so your spare is covered and get metal valve stems installed

Or, if you have a discount tire near you, you can get Hartland tires. That’s DTs house tire. I’ve been using them on all my trailers for 7 years. This year I had my first one fail (my fault, left it on for 7 years), but it held together at 65 mph so. I damage to the rv. Nothing wrong with the Endurance or Carlisle either. I’ve used the Carlisle in the past with decent results, my dad has the Endurance with no complaints.

Sounds like you’re planning to replace the Reginald tires with the same load range and load index, have you considered moving up a range? What are your weights for your rv loaded?

Okay called around can get 5 good year endurance 225 75r 15. Out the door $1,000.00 for 5. Mounted with new metal valve stems. Or another place is 890.00 but I have to remove the tires and purchase the metal valve stems myself take them to them. Another question do I need to have them balanced.

i’d spend the $110 and get all the labor and parts as a package deal…less headache…i pulled my tires and took them to the tire shop and wish i had just let them do it all…I was shopping for Carlisle tires and Walmart was the only place other then Amazon that had them around me and they wouldn’t work on my fifth wheel in the parking lot ..if I went with Goodyear I’d have it all done at a shop

I'm with Jasin, spend the 110 and let them take care of it lock, stock and barrel. Those are LRE right?

Be aware that trailer wheels are lug centric and require an adapter to balance. Not all tire shops will invest in the adapter plates if they don't have the business to justify the costs.

Want to thank everyone for the help. Decision has been made. I’m going with the good year endurance with metal valve stems and if they can balance them will have them balanced. Thank you all.

Something to think about is tire pricing. You've got a quote for $890 with you bringing in the wheels for tire change or $1000 with them doing the work at their facility if you tow the trailer to them. That's $200 per tire for 5 tires.

WalMart has Carlisle 225 75R15 LRE tires available for $115 per tire. They are comparable to the GY Endurance (by all reviews I've seen).

Pricing for 5 tires would be $575 and mounting/balance/lifetime road hazard is $25 per tire (125 for 5 tires). That's $700 for all 5 tires, mounted and balanced with a lifetime road hazard, almost $200 cheaper than your "bring the wheels in" price and $300 cheaper than your "tow the trailer to us" price.

You might consider WalMart if pricing is a consideration. There's a substantial savings available if you're open to Carlisle tires.

And yes, ALWAYS have trailer tires balanced. Any "unbalanced tire" will hop and skip at highway speeds. That's detrimental to the trailer suspension, to the trailer body and most importantly, it's destructive to the tire sidewall cording.

X2 on what John says, unless of course you have already done the other deal.

Road Hazard Tire Insurance

When buying new tires one thing to consider is Road Hazard Tire Insurance. Especially for ST type tires you put on a towable.

If you have a failure it can be blamed on some impact or cut which would not be covered by any Manufacturing Warranty but with Road Hazard insurance any failure would be covered.

Not all brands and not all dealers offer this insurance for RV application but when I recently got new tires for my Class-C, The Firestone store offered Road Hazard Insurance so I said YES as I wanted 100% coverage and some assurance that I would not have any expense related to tire failure.

All I have to do is keep track of the sales receipt and I'm good to go.

I keep copies of important papers like insurance, registration, truck scale weights, tire invoices etc on my phone in a folder that is backed up "In the Cloud" so can't get lost.
