Access is absolutly a personal prefrance and needs issue. For us the floorplan included acess while slides are in. We have never slept in any parking lot and don't anticipate doing so but here is what we do find handy handy about the access.

A "typical" rest stop for us. I pull up close as possible to building. DW gets out and walks in, she has a disease that effects her stability and wears braces from under her feet to her thighs so mobility is an issue. I park with the trucks/RVs typically farther away, there are no handicap parking spaces there. I get out with the dog and walk him and let him relieve his bladder. Then I put him in the truck and I use the camper toilet and by that time she's made her way to me and we're ready to hit the road.

So everyone's use and needs are different. Like everything in life it's a compromise. Rarely do you truly get to "check all the boxes" and find anything that's perfect for all time. JMHO

Update…

Went with the Montana HC 385BR! It’s the one we kept coming back to over and over. Feel like we got a decent deal and good customer service from SkyRiver RV in Santa Maria. Can’t wait to get in it. Thanks again for y’all’s suggestions and comments!

Congrats on your new Montana. (personally??? I think you made the right decision over the GD!) I looked at the on-line floor plan. I think you'll enjoy this camper a lot. It does have good potential to be functional with slides in or slides out. You have good options now and good variety when your immediate needs change.

Again, Congrats! Happy Camping.

(Now, jump over and join the Montana Owners Club forum too and between that one and this one, you'll have a wealth of information at your finger tips! ) Click here! - enjoy!

Congrats! That should be a great trailer for you. Go over it top to bottom (as you should with any new RV IMO) and get what ails it fixed right now. After that go have fun.
