My aux tank that was for diesel had a DOT placard as well. I transported RV and the truck had to pass a DOT inspection, it was required.

And that is why I posted a picture of my diesel tank....with a DOT sticker on it, because HE said that he had never seen one with a DOT sticker on it before.

It’s a felony in Florida to haul fuel in non dot approved containers…that means milk jugs or 55 gallon drums…this guy was charged with a third degree felony.. this guy had an unregistered vehicle also https://www.whio.com/news/trending/p...JVGQ3MRUO6B3I/

We went from Gaylord to Traverse City this past Saturday to do some shopping. TC, Kalkaska, Mancelona were all $0.75 higher for regular gas and up to to $1.20 more expensive for diesel than in Gaylord. This is the first time in the past 15+ years that I have seen it that way, but if you need more than a few gallons of diesel, it was $1.20 cheaper in Gaylord than at the corner Shell in Kalkaska.

I just checked Gas Buddy pricing and right now, the last reports for diesel at Mejier and WalMart is $4.63 with the highest reported being $4.89 at the two stations next to the south I-75 exit.

When considering adding extra fuel carrying containers you have do the math on how much extra weight that much fuel will add to your used payload. Probably not many trucks have the extra payload to carry that much extra fuel, especially when towing.

I don’t know why people get butt hurt when they post something other people don’t agree with.
To carry illegal drums of diesel fuel to save $100 doesn’t make sense to me. Is it worth it? Not to me but to each their own. In California ther is nowhere to save on fuel. Lol

It’s been a while and the regulations may have changed but back when I was racing I could carry 2 55gallon drums of methanol or racing fuel with me as long as they had a sticker on them that stated the contents in them and the drums are considered a DOT approved shipping container, Also the service truck that we had at our business used to have at least two drums of diesel fuel on it with a label on it, two drums of hydraulic oil with a label on it, along with drums of oil, basically what I’m saying is a 55 gallon drum is a DOT approved shipping container for just about any kind of liquid as long as the contents are labeled come to think of it so were the 35 gallon drums of Grease, what’s the difference between 110 gallons of diesel in 55 gallon drums strap down in the bed of a pick up and 110 gallon side tank on a semi either way there’s 110 gallons of fuel there if there’s an accident
