Wow, I’m surprised they didn’t take the replace after 5-6 year stand as the reason for failure. A recall for tires that should have been changed at a minimum 12-13 years ago just doesn’t pass the logic test. I’m surprised the NHTSA pushed the issue. I can already see people trying to buy up these old tires for the $500. This is one of the dumbest recalls I have ever heard of.

Looks like the whole thing started in 2017, and was for tires on motorhomes.

From what I've seen in storage lots I'll bet of those old class A's are setting on some old tires.

Weren't the G159 tires the ones that were responsible for all the "morothome front tire explosions and resulting deaths back in the late 80's through the 90's ???

There was a big 60 minutes/Ralph Nader expose on a Goodyear tire used on motorhomes that was being "covered up by Goodyear and owners were dying when the tires exploded and they lost control of the motorhome.

I remember a class action lawsuit and mega millions in out of court settlements, but the tire remained in production even though it was considered inferior.

If that was the G159 series, maybe this is the "final NHTSA requirement that Goodyear buy back all of them to get them off the road".....

I'm thinking this might work out. Got a friend that owns a tire business and he has thousands of tires sitting around gathered over the years. $500 a piece is what I got from the article....spend a day or 2, gather up 6-8 tires....hmmm, doesn't sound bad and sure beats washing the trailer as I did today!
