5th Wheel Hitch Question

We just bought a 2018 417 Fuzion and need to buy a 5th wheel hitch. We will be putting it on a FL90 Freightliner and hubby wants a sliding hitch. He has done some research and said that the auto sliding hitches have problems if you do a lot of dirt/rough road (which we do) so he's wondering if a manual sliding hitch would be better?
He needs a sliding hitch because we will be putting a Quad on the deck of the freightliner and wants extra room when turning/backing up.
Thanks

I haven’t had any customers complain. I would just pay attention to cleaning and proper lubrication. I’ve heard plenty of complaints about the manual sliders, IF I had a need for a slider it would be an automatic

Just got to ask, why do you need a slider with a Freightliner FL90?

I’d think you could stick that hitch anywhere from centerline of the rear axle forward and be fine.

Looks like he wants to put a quad on the truck in front of the hitch.

Never owned one, but have always been interested. Most rigs i have seen had an air ride style 5th wheel hitch behind the axle . I imagine due to the weight capacity of the rear suspension.
I think a bit more research is required, that would be a pretty harsh ride with a solid 5th mounted over the rear axle.

Thanks for all the replies.
Yes we need to put a Quad on the front of the deck.
