Is my converter bad? Fixed I hope.
So, I read several post here on this forum and there are so many helpful posts from everybody I think I should be good to go. I tested my old converter and I had nothing coming out of it I think I had a reading of .01. So I replaced it with a Progressive Dynamics Model PD4655 (55 amp) Converter which, I think is a 4 stage converter that protects the battery from over charging. (my battery was fried as well, so I replaced it to). Watching youtube was also a big help in replacing the new converter it took about 30 mins and evrthing is working as it should be.
 My 2007 Laredo 315RL is connected to a 30 amp shoreline 100% of the time on a lake lot. I went out to my RV this week end and tried to turn the lights and nothing came on. I noticed that the refrigerator had no power and had thawed out and I had no power to the Heater/AC. But I do have power to all my light plugs and the Electric Fireplace/heater. I checked all the fuses (no blown fuses) and all 3 breakers seemed to work fine when on flipped them on and off. It would shut off the light plugs and Fireplace. I tried to plug in as many devices as I could to see if my converter would kick in but in never did.
I had 2 HDTV's and 2 Direct TV boxes, 3 small fans, 1 large exterior box fan and the electric fireplace running at the same time and I did not hear my converter kick in.
Is my converter bad? Is there any way I could test it?

All these devices are 110ac and have nothing to do with the converter. Check your battery and 12dc fuses and ac breaker marked "CON" . It is likely the converter but could be a loose wire or blown fuse. Let us know what you find. Good luck, Hank

You may not have a 3 stage converter and it's possible, if you don't, to have boiled the water out of your battery. If so, and you shorted a cell, the thermal protection in the converter would have turned it off. Possibly, the battery is your problem. The way to check it is to disconnect the battery, then see if you have 12 VDC power to your lights, etc. If you do, then it's the battery. If you don't have 12VDC with the battery disconnected, then look at the two big green fuses on the converter. They may have blown to protect the circuits.
If you've been moving the trailer around, it's remotely possible that an electrical connection may have loosened, but it it's been working for more than a couple of weeks without being moved, I'd think there's nothing that's "shaken loose" from travel.
If the converter does work with the battery disconnected, then I'd say it is the battery that's bad. Take it to AutoZone or a comparable business and have it tested. My guess is you'll find a shorted cell.

Same thing happened on my popup trailer....there was a board fried in the converter, battery wasnt getting charged, so all the 12 volt stuff lost power. Try charging your battery with a battery charger...If your 12 volt stuff works, your converter isnt charging the battery

Trying to troubleshoot
If my convertor is working when plugged into 120 a.c., will my 12v lights work? Conversely if convertor isn't working, 12v lights will not work when plugged into 120 a.c., correct?

kpadden - you should probably start a new thread. The one you responded to is 4 1/2 years old. If you're having a problem be sure and state what it is. There are many posts on how to trouble shoot your converter/battery setup.
