Atwood water heater plug or anode?

I have a question, I just bought a 2003 Keystone Laredo 25+4RL and the water heater drain is minus the plug and or anode. It's a Atwood 6gal. WH.
Do I need to use a plastic plug or a anode rod?

Atwood's website has the manual readily available for download. It includes a complete parts list and identification.

http://www.atwoodmobile.com/manuals/...S%204.9.09.pdf

There is no anode on the parts list; only a drain plug.

Attwood uses a plug. I would recommend using brass as the plastic will eventually get its head rounded off and then you'll be picking it out in little pieces using a screwdriver and needle nosed pliers. Been there done that.

I used the original plastic plug in our '99 Sunline's Atwood for 11 years. With the proper size socket wrench, the hex was only deformed a little bit. I did use fresh teflon plumber's tape when replacing it each spring.

I did away with my plug on my previous trailers hot water heater an my current 2002 cougar for a brass ball valve. My 2002 has a anode rod that doubles as a drain so I just put a ball valve instead of the petcock valve. It is easier to drain with a ball valve an once u put it in don't have to take it out. Good luck hope this helped.

Sorry one more thing. With ball vale can screw on a little hose to valve when draining so water does not lay in the heater enclosure an rust the bottom like u might see on some heater units when u open the outside door.

Plug

Camco makes a Petcock that replaces the plug so you don't have to remove it all of the time I used it on both my old TT and my sons TT.
