Hound Dog on the Mend
While back ago I posted about a liver cancer procedure. It was for my beloved Hound. We ended up going to UC Davis for the procedure, but much to our happiness, the cancer was confined to one lobe, so they removed the Left lobe. We are now 30 days since surgery, I didn’t want to follow up as while I thought it went well, you just never know if complications pop up.
He’s doing awesome. Back to his old loud self. Thanks to those who reached out with well wishes.
And a shout out to UC Davis. Incredible animal hospital and the staff is insanely dedicated to animal health and research

That’s great!! UC Davis has an awesome vet department, as you found out. Hope he lives a long happy life with his family.

Great news and beautiful pup! I had owned dogs all my life (yard dogs, hunting dogs, pointers, greyhounds etc. and loved them all. Had current pup come find me one evening after watching her for days in my next door property playing with her siblings. They were cute. One evening she found me starving, outside my fence crying and I found a way to give her some food that I was cooking. She was emaciated, abused and totally terrified of people. 10 years later she is my 100% companion; knows me and the way I act; knows the clock; knows when it's time for a nap; follows me and waits for me at every turn; herds me to the office when the time is appropriate, herds me to the bedroom for nap time then gets me when it's time to go to the park...every day...at 4-5pm. Naw, I'm not trained....you train dogs...right??!

He’s my first, definitely not my last. He is constant fun. Just up for anything. Life is just flat the greatest thing as far as he is concerned.

Good on ya, fella! I don't know of any group of animals treated any better than the pets of RV'ers in the parks where we stay. Our neighbor on the backside of us keeps a jar of dog treats right by his easy chair outside and every dog that walks by gets a treat. He even keeps a separate jar with treats for the 'special diet' dogs.
When you're done reading this, call your 'good boys' in and give them a treat from Jim!

Danny, when I read your sentence "One evening she found me starving, outside my fence crying" the visual wasn't quite what you were looking for...

Thanks, it was a kick to the gut as I just had to let go of my beloved little girl of 16 years a month earlier.
Dr said nothing could be done. I just couldn’t let my bud sit there and starve to death. He was still so full of life. Again, so thankful for Great people at UC Davis.
When I got back home for a vet check on Copper, our vet said years ago UC was going to do a kidney transplant on a cat in his care. Cat couldn’t make it in time to get down there, but I was blown away at what UC could do.

ALL RESCUES: The red on the ground he was bear with leg injury, The Treeing Walker she was coon with immune and blood disorders, The blue she is strictly a lap dog, only hunts my son .... follows to the door when he leaves and waits for his return. She would hunt him down in a blizzard just for a snuggle but she's healthy with minimum vet bills. When I pass on I want to come back as one of his animals. ( I promise to never chew any furniture.)

The way the blue and the Walker were on the hood I thought they were used to being up there for striking scent while roading. That's the way some bear and cat hunters do.

Copper is a rescue as well. Could never hunt with him, he hates gun shots! Love Red Bones

We are a cat house....NO not that kind LOL!!
All are rescues, and I firmly believe any animal that adopts a family knows they were rescued. I have 2 cats that live to curl up on my lap and purr!!

Well Jim, in that particular reference I was speaking to pup, but, thinking about it after reading it in your context, it's probably still true even if not talking about puppy.....just depends on how "good", or not, I've been I suppose. "She" never tells me why I'm put outside the fence.....
