One time while traveling east to west across country through the upper central routes, we had a scheduled destination. Our traveling companions had to be in Las Vegas on a planned date for a big Las Vegas wedding. Their daughter was getting married.
We were going to spend a couple of weeks in Reno but the elevation bothered me and Linda so we left a week early. We planned on traveling US-95 all the way to Las Vegas. We had found a RV park in Tonopah with a couple of sites. There wasn’t much there and what there was didn’t appeal to any of us so we looked for another park. A traveler at the Tonopah Park told us about a “hidden jewel” called Lake Side Casino & RV Park just outside Pahrump. We called and they had two FHU, back-in, side by side sites we could fit into.
When we got off US-95 and started down NV-160 we got worried because the road was narrow and loaded with pot holes. When we got to Lake Side we were impressed. It’s one of those, carved out of the desert places where an abundance of water was all it needed to be carved into an eye appealing experience. Golf carts were used to transport RV Park residents to and from the casino and restaurants. They had a good sized pond with a sandy beach and just a mile or two down the road they had built a beautiful golf course where RV Park patrons were given generous discounts.
We spent a week there and were all rested-up for our Circus Circus RV Park adventure.
