Dometic Fridge Auto Issue

I have a new 2021 Keystone Cougar and our RV fridge shows auto lit but also the LP is lit too. We are connected to 50 amp so why is LP showing lit up too? We are in Houston Texas and very humid. Is the LP better for keeping the fridge cooled when in the humid climate? This is our first fridge so all mew for us.

First thing I would do is verify the fridge is in fact plugged in and the outlet has power.

Go outside and open the lower access panel. You should see the cord and an outlet on the left side. You can use anything electrical to plug in and see if there is power. If no power then start looking for a GFCI reset, probably in the bathroom. Come back and tell us what you found.

Then go online or to your nearest rv supply store & get a surge protector/EMS (it must be an EMS) in whatever your rv amperage is rated either hardwired or portable as long as it's being used EVERY time the rv is plugged into shore power.

I will look at mine tomorrow but I think they are both always lit up and there will be a little red dot next to whichever is chosen

IIRC, if both the “auto” and “LP” lights are illuminated then fridge is operating in LP mode. Auto light only will be AC.

So after doing some investigation, and also w/ the help of an RV tech who was working on a few other things on my rig today, we found out that the fuse on my board blew and so it automatically went to LP because of this. The RV tech did not understand why it blew as I have a Power Watchdog connected and has always been plugged in. The rig is only 4 weeks old (well I have only had it for 4 weeks) and he said in his time he hasn't seen this before, especially w/ such a new unit. Now to find a fuse for it as it is one of those lovely tube ones.

Glad you figured it out. Any auto parts store will have fuses.

Any 5A fuse will do. I believe they are all pretty much rated for 250 volts.

I’d use a multi meter and do a resistance check on the two heating elements as they are what’s in line with that 120 VAC glass fuse
