Spruce trees??

We're discussing escaping the Houston heat and humidity next August. Looking at Blue Spruce RV Park on Lake Vallecito in SW Colorado. Do spruce trees drip sap? I really don't want that mess.

I don't know about "Colorado blue spruce" but Michigan blue spruce trees produce a "fine mist of sticky goo" and if I park under (or even next to) mine, the next morning, there's a "mist of miniscule sticky spots" all over the truck, trailer, boat and I suppose, if I stood there long enough, all over me too.

It does wash off if you get to it before the sun, but if you park there for a few days, it starts to turn to a "gray mess" and if parked there all summer, it's a black film that's damn near impossible to remove.

So, yeah, if mother nature builds it, it's gonna drip on man's creations.....

Brent,

I watched a video of the campground and didn't see many blue spruce. Lots of pine and "non pine" types but very few blue spruce. From my recollection of Vallecito (years ago) I don't recall it being at that elevation/stratum. Bayfield is just in the foothills IMO.

It did appear that most sites were in some kind of trees. For a week or so probably wouldn't be any problem if you cleaned it as soon as possible afterward. I try to stay out of trees anywhere I go if possible; they have caused me so much work in past years that I prefer to just sit in the sun....in the cool. In your case, I'm thinking I would deal with the trees just to get out of the Houston heat and get somewhere cool, quiet and pretty.

We stayed at another Rv park there, but that was in the late 1980's, and I don't remember any sap.
I'll call the park and see what they say.
Oh the irony....maiden voyage of the Oshkosh...where am I? Indian Creek Recreation Area..Louisiana...surrounded by pines. I blew off the casino for the shade of pine trees. 45,000BTU's of A/C are struggling to keep up. It is HOT.
