Fuzion - Battery Box
Just picked up our 2017 Fusion 414 on Saturday! Surprised to see no battery box or hold down bracket. Just doesn't seem right - is that the new standard?

Fuzion 371 purchased last year 1 tray on the top big enough to hold 2 six or 12 volt batteries and a tray on the bottom that will hold an additional one. No boxes or hold downs though. Dealer said that is how they come.

If the battery tray(s) are in a compartment that is open on the bottom, then boxes aren't required. If the batteries are in a closed compartment they must be vented by either vented door or vented boxes. Batteries on the tongue of TT's are usually put in a box for protection from weather, but a box isn't required.

Our Impact 351 was the same way. I added my own second battery and tie down bracket, because batteries are heavy and shouldn't be allowed to bounce around going down the road.

I also picked up a 2017 Fuzion 414 in late Sept. Did yours come through as a "Chrome"? Ours didn't contrary to what the NADA lists. They show the 414 only as a Chrome which adds a lot to the MSRP. My batteries are afloat also. I haven't quite figured out what to do with them also.

I have a 326SRX toyhauler that is maybe configured different than the larger ones discussed. The batteries are in the forward compartment between the gear legs. The trailer came with one Group 24 and no battery box or tiedown arrangement. I asked them to secure the battery and they provided a box secured to the floor of the compartment.
When I began to boondock more it was obvious that the 24 wasn't up to the task, LED's or not, so I upgraded to two, 6V, GC batts in a NOCO box. Since the compartment is vented to the outside, I just secured the single box to the metal floor of the compartment and set both batts in the secured box with the screw-on, attached and vented lid covering the batts.
The batt(s) need to be secured in some manner. Gravity itself isn't enough when the roadway is less than perfect at 60 MPH. You may not need a box, but if the batts leak acid, harm will come to wherever they are located unless they are enclosed in a box.

I did the same as whitescrew77.
Added a battery disconnect and second deep cycle batt. While I was at it, added tie down straps for both.
