Hot water not working on electric... fixed
So I finally decided (after multiple trips in our new camper)I would try our hot water heater on electric. I actually did not know it had an electric option until my bro-n-law asked about it. Guess the tech missed that during the PDI. It did not work.. sorta chalked it up to an issue I would have the dealer look at it when it goes for its 1 year warranty work this winter. Then I went to winter-ize the camper. Took the cabinet panel off below the oven to get to the hot-water bypass and low and behold the electric line was not plugged in.
So if your heater does not work this definitely should be the first thing to look at.

I have never seen a water heater "plugged in" before, I have only seen them hard wired into a junction box. Must be something new. Most of the time it is the little black switch in the lower left bottom of the heater that is not turned on. JM2˘, Hank

X2. My little black switch was covered by a silver tape... It was really hard to find. Can you see the tape? It's right below the right Push-To-Reset switch.

Would it be possible for you to take a photo of the HW tank 110V male plug and the junction box into which it is plugged in so we can have an idea of what this setup looks like?
Like the other two above posters, I've not seen this kind of connection at the HW tank before.

Seen it a few times, and that is one of the things I check on EVERY PDI. Grand Designs plugs them in, Cruiser uses a junction box. I can tell if the element is working within 20 minutes, then it's on to the LP test.

I've seen a "real" junction box with an outlet, and seen Romex with an outlet hanging off the end.

That type of connector is typically used to connect. Flexible wire to rigid wire. As with a flexible wire running from under a slide out, then up into the slide, where it is changed to rigid.

gcracker,
My Cougar has the same type plug located behind the water heater. It's a "mobile home" sectional plug, as stated, used to connect flexible wire to Romex or to connect Romex to Romex where a junction box isn't practical.
