Slide switch

Has anyone moved the slide switch from the box in the master bedroom to somewhere where you can actually SEE the slide moving?

I'm thinking of just leaving the existing switch where it is and taping where it gets it's power and place a 3 way switch on the column near the TV so I can see the slide as it moves in and out.

Has anyone come across this? TIA
