rubber roof question

I have a new Laredo 240MK. I noticed while on the roof when I was up there to put on "Maxair" covers that the calking from the factory around everything seems to have wrinkled the rubber roof where it was applied making the calking look kind of rippled up. Is this normal?

What kind of caulking or sealant did you apply around the Maxxair covers? If you used something that is not compatible with the EPDM rubber roof, that may have caused it to wrinkle. Or perhaps the rubber was not glued down around the vent opening and was wrinkled prior to your removal of the old vent and installation of the new one??

No I did not apply any calk anywhere. I am saying I noticed the factory calk job looked this way. Vent covers do not need calking they are held up with brackets.

A picture showing the seals you're talking about would be great. But here is what I think you are looking at: Rubber roofs are sealed at the caps and around vents, tv antenna, etc with Dicor self leveling lap sealant. It's pretty standard to apply it in a very thick bead and with little regard for smoothness... the more the better! One of the things you may be seeing is the screws and rivets under the sealant. At least that's what it sounds like. This is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. And down the road when you go up to re-seal/spot seal in a few years, I would suggest you continue the trend of applying heavily on the seams. As I said... more is better!
