2017 Samsung residential fridge

I’m really frustrated. I purchased a new 2017 Keystone sprinter fifth wheel.
This week my residential fridge went on the blink.
I had a local Samsung repair guy come out today and he tells me my unit will need a new evap cover and a thermal fuse. Also a temp sensor.
The cost of this repair almost $500.00
My fridge of course is out of the warranty period so I’m stuck with the bill
The fridge is not even 4 years old. What the heck?
The repair guy told me this is common with these fridges, if this is true why didn’t
Samsung have a recall on it?
Makes me so mad.
Has anyone else experience this issue?
Thanks for your comments

Samsung may fast be becoming the Trailer King of the appliance world....

There are a couple of "old posts" on the forum (2-3-4 years ago) stating that the "energy efficient variable speed/barely adequate compressor technology" in the Samsung is "always operating at the edge" and, like anything (most things) when "always maxed out" is not going to provide the "easy cruise capacity" of an adequately sized system....

I wonder if your failure is a "sign of more things to come" ?????

From reading other forums about this you're lucky to of found a tech that would work on the fridge in a rv, from reading, most require YOU to pull the fridge so they can access the back & YOU put it back.

As a note: mine has a big sticker on it that says compressor warrantied for 10 years. Hope that's good.

Yes I know. I read lots of negative responses about this. However, I pulled the fridge from the slide and had it ready to for the tech. He was very great full. He even gave me $20.00 discount.
On the good side of this I will be up and running on Thursday.

Thank you, I sure hope this is the first and the last.
I sure like to know what caused this problem, no one can answer me
The MFG won’t give me a straight answer. I wonder what’s up.?
You have ask yourself, why wasn’t there a recall on this problem.

When shopping for appliances for the house I had built 5 yrs ago, the Samsung appliances were really nice looking and a lot of features, particularly the refrigerators. Guy at the family run appliance store (not big box) told me to stay away from the Samsung stuff due to reliability issues.

As a note, you're on the hook for all labor, refrigerant, and electronic controls including the inverter, and any other component other than the "compressor". Good luck, when she lets go!

You are partially correct you have 5 years on your sealed system parts (things refrigerant runs through not electronics) and labor, your next 5 years is the compressor only. I still stand by my statement and say GOOD LUCK! Your refrigerator is not operated in a "house" and therefore the warrantied is "excluded".

One (1) year parts and labor
Five (5) years parts and labor on Sealed Refrigeration System Only (Compressor, Evaporator, Condenser, Drier, and Connecting Tubing)
Ten (10) years part and Five (5) years labor on Digital Inverter Compressor Only

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/s...RF28R7201SG/AA

Read that and realize you are dealing with a company that has a worse reputation than Keystone on servicing its products.

Well, if that's how it works I'll just replace it if and when it breaks.

LIMITED WARRANTY TO ORIGINAL CONSUMER PURCHASER WITH PROOF OF PURCHASE

This SAMSUNG brand product, as supplied and distributed by Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (SAMSUNG) and delivered new, in the original carton to the original consumer purchaser, is warranted by SAMSUNG against manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship for the limited warranty period of:
One (1) year parts and labor
Five (5) years parts and labor on Sealed Refrigeration System Only (Compressor, Evaporator, Condenser, Drier, and Connecting Tubing)
Ten (10) years part and Five (5) years labor on Digital Inverter Compressor Only

I think the red highlighted phrase would be the definition no warranty on these units. I think, even with the problems we had with our Norcold, I will stick with the RV fridge instead of doing the residential fridge.
