Let me guess, he spent several thousand dollars so he doesn't have to pay a CG to stay overnight?

This is nothing if you follow the RV Geeks they have spent the price of a brand new RV installing lithium and motorized tilt solar on their rig... It’s really not that expensive when your not paying for it ;-)...

They just did this so the video on cost is coming out next week. I will pass on when it comes. As a person who has lived off of the grid since 1982 I can tell you that cost mitigate over time. Ten year battery life is amazing, not having to run a generator while boondocking is something too. I have not paid an electric bill in 40 years. Have had to replace battery banks, and two years ago I upgraded to true sine wave inverter that would produce 220 so that I could also pump the well (240 ft depth) with it. I would never hook up to the grid even though it is now available near me, but savings in cost is definitely not the reason to go solar. After 40 years I am most assuredly ahead of the total cost curve, but I think almost all of us on this list do not have a 40 year window left to mitigate cost with.
