Question about sealant on top of slide bumper

I have an appointment to fix the pic I Have attached where the bumper on top of the slide has come off the track and the sealant is separated. My question is that this sealant is clear and I wanted to put something on it until my appointment so it would not leak. What do they use that would be clear. That is not lap sealant is it. Any ideas?

That seal is known as a D seal, since it's shaped like a D. The top edge is most likely a clear glue like sealant that we see all the time. We normally just peel it off and apply clear silicone after cleaning the exterior wall with denatured alcohol.

The D seal should have a hard plastic back that threads over a track attached to the wall. You could just pull it off one end and re thread it.

I was going to let the dealer do since it was under warranty. I just didn't want water to get in there till I go on 5-11. I didn't think you were supposed to use silicone on a rv. What would you do?

Since since it looks like just the D seal is coming apart, you'll probably be okay just leaving it alone. You could clean the seal and apply gorilla tape to just the seal surface.

I'm just wondering where that water goes when it gets behind that seal. Gorilla tape won't hurt the fiberglass when it gets peeled off. Do know what the clear stuff is called. It is around all my seals on the sides and trim. Is that just a silicone sealant?

If the water gets into the center of the D seal, it will run downhill to the end of the seal, From there it will travel down. I would cut the tape so it's only on the seal and not the sidewall.

The stuff around all your seals could be sika-flex, or a product that Dow makes, I can't remember the name right now, but it's not silicone. I have a heck of a rime getting it all cleaned off as it's gooey.
