Fuzion 371 Gray Tank

Purchaced a 2014 Fuzion 371 in July of 2014. During our first trip we noticed the gray tank fills faster than expected for the posted 86 gallon capacity. Took this issue to the local service and they installed new probes.... Still had the same problem. Finally in May of 2015 we were at a full hook up site and I performed a test in 5 gallon increments only to find out the gray tank is actually 43 gallons and the tank reads 2/3 full after 5 gallons. Gave that info to the local service center. Keystone replied back that they would only cover a probe replacement and if the service department didnt find anything, I would have to pay all costs (thanks Greg at Keystone). So, I called Keystone directly on 1 July 2015 and pointed out that 1) the tank indication is wrong and 2) they are listing 86 gallon capacity for the gray when in reality it is only 43.... To date I have not recieved any return phone calls or e-mail, I have left over 8 voice mails and talked to 6 different customer service reps.... Has anyone else validated their gray tank capacity for the 371? I see the 2016 still shows 86 for gray....

I own a Montana but a question.

You sure you don't have 2 grey tanks? My trailer has 2. One for the bathroom/shower and one for the kitchen/outdoor kitchen. 2 seperate drain handles.

I am willing to bet that your rig actually has TWO tanks of 43 gallons each for gray water. Typically it is one for the shower/bathroom sink and the other for the galley/kitchen. Many other Keystones are configured exactly the same with two gray tanks. They have separate dump gates and may all feed one sewer connection. That is pretty common.

On your tank monitor, there should be buttons or readout for black, galley, gray, and fresh. That is a total of four tanks, not three. Your black is 43 gallons, gray is 43 gallons, galley is 43 gallons, and fresh is 112 gallons

I think instead of getting all upset with Keystone, it would be better to do some closer checking of your rig, and find that second gray tank and dump valve handle. If the dealer had done a better job of the PDI, he would have shown you the second gray tank valve when you bought the trailer.

One other poster recently mentioned that he found the pull handle for the second gray between the tandems. You might look there, too.

Let's make this a bit easier. First, this is a pic of the most forward baggage compartment on the street side of my Cougar. You can plainly see the dump handles for the black tank and the shower tank. They are located directly above this section of the trailer.

This is my single sewer connection. You can see the 3" pipe going to the left for the black and shower tanks. It goes up into the underbelly right below the two pull handles in the first pic. The smaller pipe going to the right is 1 1/2" diameter and goes up into the body of the trailer right under the kitchen sink. That is the drain pipe for the second gray tank or the galley tank.

Here's a better pic of the right hand side of the piping. You can see the smaller pipe going up into the underbelly to the tank and the pull handle for the corresponding dump valve right along side it.

My trailer is spec'd at 38 gallons of black and 76 gallons of gray. That's 38 gallons of gray in the shower and 38 gallons of gray in the galley tank.

Hopefully these pics will help you find that second tank and dump valve.

Have validated with Keystone that the 371 has 2 black, 1 gray and 1 fresh. So, I am wondering if anyone with a 371 has the same capacity issue? After two days of use with 8 showers and 2 days of dishes, we are almost full...

Looking at the floor plan of your rig, it appears that you most likely do have two separate black tanks. However, the shower and galley are far enough apart that it is highly probable that you also have two gray tanks as well. Keystone does this on all of their product lines and it is not unique to the Fuzions.

IIRC, there is at least one or two thread back a year or asking a similar question about Fuzions.

There are many more. I suggest you find them and read them over. FWIW, there are even more threads about this same issue for the other Keystone product lines. Contrary to what some might think, the Keystones all share the same design philosophy and many, many common parts and appliances. Strip off the decals, and except for the floor plans, they're way over 95% identical.

I really think there is a second gray tank and corresponding dump valve.

Thanks for the replys... I have validated that the 1/2 bath toilet and sink flow into the back BLACK tank.... The kitchen sink, shower, and front bath sink all flow into the front GRAY tank. Also, there is a front BLACK tank..... Now, I am wondering if any other Fuzion 371 owners have the same set up. Doesnt make sense to me to call the back "GRAY" since the toilet is connected to that. Additionally the outside drain for the 1/2 bath is labeled BLACK.... Wondering if for some reason, the wrong GRAY tank was installed.... Seems to me they should be advertising 86 BLACK / 43 GRAY .....

I have a 2014 371. You're spot on. Mine is set up exactly as you describe with the same premature fill reading on the grey tank. One of the things I have on my to do list is to pull apart the control panel to see if the gauges can be calibrated.

My early 15 371 is the same as well. Only one grey and 2 black. The front toilet has its own black. The Front sink, shower and kitchen all go to the grey. The rear toilet, sink and washer drain all go to the rear black.

My Impact has two gray tanks. One valve is right in front of the left side tire, and the other is in the connection compartment along with the second gray tank and black tank dump valve. Also, the valves were reversed in mine. The black was marked gray and the gray marked black. I just peeled off the stickers and made the fix. However, my black tank does seem to fill up fast, but I have not verified the capacity yet.

So, I have talked with several of the Keystone CSRs..

.. According to "Ben", we need to validate the "Build Sheet" for our trailers... He has requested mine. He told me that Keystone will not change their advertisement for trailers even when the build sheet is different. However, if advertised at 86 (Ben validated that) and the build sheet is 86, they will fix the issue... Recommend anyone with this issue call Keystone 1-866-425-4369.. You will need the last 8 of your VIN. I have been waiting on Ben to reply since Friday 14 August. Will give them a call tomorrow and see where I am at....

Customer service stated that Keystone "reserves the right to change a build"... So, I ask for that in writing. Since customer service would not call back, I went ahead and filed a BBB compliant listing all the times I have talked with Keystone and the issue. Seems they have a false adversting problem with the 2014 and 2015 Model 371. Keystone has replied (they would contact me directly) to the BBB, but of course no one has contacted me as of 13 Sept. (I updated my BBB compliant).. Will keep you posted on the results. (BBB CASE#: 26062570).....

Contacted Keystone Customer service on 15 Sept..... Talked to Amy and she stated that her "Manager" and the "Engineer" will not support any fix for the "false advertising". I asked again for this in writing and supplied both my e-mail and home address. As of 27 Sept no word from Keystone Customer Service..... I will post again with the BBB that Keystone has not provided me the documentation. Once I get this in writing, I will post and I will file a consumer complaint and post to as many places as I can. If you own a Fuzion 371 model year 2014 or 2015, you were shorted gray tank capacity. The issue is they knew about it.... Took two years to fix.... Regardless of how they are labeled, it seems to me that you have a total of THREE WASTE TANKS, each having a 43 gallon capacity. Usually the waste tank capacities should equal or exceed the fresh water tank capacity. JMHO, but I think you might be beating a dead horse. Good luck

the BBB is really not worth a thing. While it seems you are correct, I think you are beating a dead horse. I was surprised when I found I had 2 grey tanks of 43 each instead of 1 big one, as the shower certainly tends to fill up quicker. we camp at full hookups most of the time, so it really isnt a big deal to me (2015 Fuzion 345 Chrome)

I think it's a case of "definition" more than "function". The tanks do all hold liquid and they don't leak, so they are functional. Keystone calls the "rear tank" a "gray tank" because the sinks drain into it. You call it a "black tank" because the toilet drains into it. In either definition, both of you can say the other is wrong and both of you can say that you've got the correct interpretation. I think this is one that simply isn't going to be resolved by "he said/she said" and you've got to make a decision either to get camping and enjoy your rig or get camping and be irritated every time you flush the rear toilet. It's pretty much up to you and it seems that Keystone has told you, the BBB and now all of us who read their response in your link, that they aren't going to re-plumb your trailer.

At this point, I'd either modify it myself or simply live with what I have. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy your camping trips.

My 2015 311 impact has been at the shop 45 days , Slide repaired and monitoring system didn't work repaired . the dealer found a cracked tank wile rewired some of the monitoring system. It appears that Keystone is dragging there feet on the tank issue because my RV is still setting in the yard. the good thing free storage While my 20 by 40 RV shed is being built. I do need it by January for a trip to QZ Arizona.

Having a roof issue, which requires shipping a big part:
1) Week to get the repair approved (part of this may be dealer documentation)
2) Another week for Keystone to generate a tracking number
3) Part actually ships from Keystone a week later.
4) +1 more week to get the part to the dealer

4 weeks - that was my experience with a "large" part - meaning the roof material.

Check in with the dealer and ask what the hold up is...
