Winterize black flush line?
Do I need to winterize my black flush line???
It had not mentioned it in the owners manual of my Carabon 5th wheel (or on a couple of youtube videos I watched about winterizing) but I was just reading through some forum posts and someone mentioned it. Now I'm worried as the temperature has been below freezing here at night for a couple weeks or so.
Do I need to run some antifreeze down the "flush" nozzle/hookup?
Also, not really associated to my main question, but I'll ask it here.
I just bought my Carbon in August (first time RV owner, love it..)
When dumping my tanks for the first time I noticed that the little labels on the side of my camper (the ones that label which valve is for which tank, black vs grey) seem to be backward. I thought it odd but then I went back to flush the rear grey and black tanks (Carbon 357 with the second bath) and those labels seemed to be backward as well. the label that said "grey" was actually over the black tank valve and vice versa... the only way I could tell is by watching the color/cleanliness of the water that came out when I opened each valve.
I've been concerned about it simply because when I use the power flush I don't want to ruin something because I have the wrong valve open.....
Does this mislabeling seem to be odd to anyone? could I be missing something???

Yes, you need to winterize the black tank flush line. You can buy a hand pump to get antifreeze into this line, blow it out or both.
Yes, reversing or getting the labels mixed up on the tanks is not an unusual occurrence. You aren't the first this has happened to and you won't be the last.

thanks for the help. I hope the power flush line hasn't frozen and cracked. I'll get some antifreeze into it.
Have a good night,

I hope so too but you'll find out soon enough in the Spring when you go to use the flush. When you do, keep an eye inside your unit for water escaping and just run enough pressure to allow the water to flow through the system so you don't end up with volumes of water on the carpets and floor - should there be a leak.

You will not be able to push antifreeze into this line as the black flush is equiped with an anti syphon valve that requires pressure to close. you will just pump antifreez all over your bathroom floor or wherever your valve may be located. Use compressed air and blow the line out. this will force the anti syphon valve closed and the compressed air will get all the way to the black tank flush nozzle.

I forgot 1 year but anyways my outside shower is right next to my flush. As I pump antifreeze thru, I take the shower head off. I found a brass coupler fitting with both thread sizes and just hook up to the flush. Pretty darn easy now.

Easier than the hand pump.

For the black tank flush I always just blow it out and it has been fine.

IF the black tank flush system is working properly, and the anti-siphon valve is also working, when there is no pressure, the valve opens and allows the water to drain in both directions, out the fitting where you connect a hose to and also out the spray head inside the black tank. There should be no water inside either hose or the valve that would freeze. If water doesn't drain from the hose fitting after removing the hose after flushing the tank, all bets are off, as something isn't working right.
