Good Sam TravelAssist Program

Considering enrolling in this program for $79.99/year. Does anyone have any comments or experience with this?

It provides:

1. Medical Evacuation and Transportation Home
2. Medical Assistance
3. Assistance For Companions
4. Travel Assistance

I am a GS member but am not enrolled in this program so I don't have any first-hand experience with it. Like all insurance programs, familiarize yourself with the exclusions. As the name "Travel Assist" implies, it does not cover you for any medical treatment once you arrive at a hospital or other care facility. They will get you there but after that, I understand you are "on your own".

Before purchasing, I'd recommend that you find out what is not covered as well as what is. I've heard of too many cases where people have said, "I thought I would be covered but...."

Good luck.

I would also check what is already included in your RV insurance policy. Mine includes these options and is from nationwide through Good Sam insurance agency.

Good luck!

It provides that coverage anywhere in the world, RV or no RV. My RV/vehicle insurance doesn't provide that.

Reading the fine print is part of this due diligence.

I carry this insurance but have never used it. It does cover some cases that none of my other insurances cover. The renewal I have sitting on my desk is for 59.95 for a year. For that small of a premium, and the potential of saving hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, in unexpected expenses it seems like something to have. I may or may not ever use it, but as I said, it costs almost nothing.

One should note that many standard insurance companies will do an "add on" that gets most of all of what the Good Sam program offers and often cheaper than the GS program. It's worth asking your agent.

I asked my agent when we got the 5er if 5er towing could be covered, etc. She said "let me research and get back to you" and a day later she had educated herself on her own company's offering. It beat GS's annual price by a mile.
