fresh water low point drain cock
We want to replace screw on/off cap for low point drain with an open/close valve. We haven't been able to find anything that will work. Any suggestions. We have a 2015 Montana 3402.

Simple enough. go to your nearest rv store and buy a straight compresion x 1/2" male thread Fitting And a 1/2" threaded female ball valve. Cut off your old fitting add the new one with valve.

See if you can get a valve with a barb fitting on one end. It should slide up inside the drain hose. Put a stainless steel worm gear hose clamp around the drain hose to keep the barb fit snug. The drain hose may be 1/8" or 1/4" inside diameter. Don't put too small a barb fitting in it, it will fall out, emptying the tank. You should be able to find the valve at a full line hardware store or maybe Lowes or Home Depot. I used a brass one.
If you have plenty of hose you could cut an inch off and take it to the store to get the right fit, or just make 2 trips like me.
edit: Or Randy's plan will work too^^^^

When I first saw the way it's made my first thought was, cheap. Why didn't they just put a valve there. I'm also going to install a valve on mine.

You can buy a pex ball valve and cut the pipe just above the fitting on there now as long as you have 1-1/4 of pipe to push new valve on. You can get a plastic or brass valve. I put plastic on my trailer and my dads. Just go to local box store for the Valve. Good luck

I used this with threaded ends. Just took the drain plugs off and screwed this on with some pipe tape and it works fine.
NOW i am wondering about critters getting in the one open side but I will see

I put a pex in line ball valve on the warm side of the floor. Trying to get more prepared for sub freezing weather.

Here is another idea. I Used a tee fitting for the cold and hot water drain line and mounted two quick disconnects. I use a hose to wash hands outside. Or easy to drain water for winter.

With the internal valve I can turn it open and close it from the comfort of the trailer.
