Tire Troubles

Hello,
I have a 2011 Keystone Raptor with 235 80/R16 tires and have continued having tire blow outs. Replaced original tires with Carlise tires and running 75lbs of air pressure. Still having issues and this time did damage to the camper body. Any Suggestions are appreciated. Several friends suggested changing over to the 17.5 tires/wheels along with pressure sensors??? What do you think.
Thanks for all your help.

I run the F load rated Carlisle because I blew two E rated tires. E rated tires that you probably have just don't have enough head room for me. Plus, make sure you run them at the max cold air pressure. You will not realize the full weight carrying capabilities unless they are at max pressure. Just make your wheels are rated to handle the air pressure of F rated tires which is 95psi cold. If you want true piece of mind upgrade to G or H rated tires and wheels.

I replaced all my towmax with a truck tire: Firestone Transforce HT.
My TPMS saved my trailer with 2 of my towmax blowouts.

Someone on here recommended the geostar to rated tires. I got a set and so far have been very pleased. The tire alone weighs more than the towmax mounted on the wheel. I also run the tpms on my raptor 300 mp. The other option was the Goodyear g (can't remember the number ) g rated tire

There's a thread in here somewhere, maybe tire forum, about the possibility of higher rated/stiff sidewall tires causing suspension failures. The side to side forces while backing and turning have to be absorbed somewhere.
Something's gotta give, tire sidewall or shackles.
I would just do the math on the load and the tire rating, be sure you are above rated load, and keep them aired to max.

Have you checked your wheel alignment Get the tape measure out and check the toe, Also is it in the same location every time and how fast are you towing it.

I replaced my tires with Goodyear Unisteel G614 RST tires and have never looked back... There not a cheap tire but neither is your trailer or your safety and piece of mind.

You should probably move up in load capacity. The ST235/85R16E provides 3640# at 80 psi. The ST235/85R16F provides 3960# at 95 psi. The LT235/85R16G provides 3750# at 110 psi.

It's just not worth the risk to skimp with trailer tire air pressures, especially Carlisle. Carlisle never recommends less tire pressure than what is on the sidewall.

All of the above options are considered "plus sized". An owner has to be careful doing that because the OE rims may not be the right size or have enough load capacity. Clearances between tires and fitment into the wheelwell need to be verified before purchasing tires that may not be a safe fitment.

The Geostar 574 14ply is what you are talking about, have about 12k on them and love em, I have talked to several folks that have them and they are also very happy with them, in my opnion, they are built like the Goodyear 614 but for approx. $100.00 less per tire, sometimes on ebay you can even save a lot more, one thing you have to check is to make sure your rim will take the 110 psi....Good Luck
