Basement door hinge plate

All of the screws from the Montana 5th wheel have striped from one of the piston hinge plates on basement door interior. Best suggestion for reinstalling the screws.

Thumbs up Welcome to the forum

Unfortunately most compartment doors are not constructed with a good solid center, and that causes issues when you put any stress on them. The strut is constantly applying pressure so that adds to the problem.
On a few, I have been able to insert wooden skewers into the screw holes and then cut them off flush. Sometimes that works, other times the holes are too far gone, and I end up drilling through and using a machine screw from the outside. The times I have done that, I measured and cut so just enough threads stuck out the inside to double nut and then covered the ends with clear silicone to reduce any snag hazard. I painted the heads to match the door color so, they didn't stick out like sore thumbs.
