I use a VPN using a US VPN servers; usually Atlanta or Dallas and have never had issues that are being described here. I also stay logged in all the time and when I do log in check the remember me button as I recall problems when I didn't.

When I was in HS I ordered a "Hollywood Wolf Whistle" from Whitney. It plumbed into the intake manifold (worked off of vacuum) and it operated with wire thru the dashboard that you pulled. Sure had a lot of fun with that.

For what it’s worth, we are not on a VPN. I double checked by asking my IT guy who’s been in IT for almost 30 years. I’m logged in to the website on my iPad (and have the remember me box checked). I exclusively use my iPad for checking the forum here, not any other computer. The photo below is what I am encountering every day that I click on the forum in my bookmarks, when I click on it for the first time of the day, not any of the return trips for that day. So, not a Microsoft issue (or at least not on my end). And, I agree, I have no info out here that could be used by anyone stealing anything for their gain that hasn’t already been stolen from any other business that has been hacked that has my info.

Mainly, I’m just curious what has changed, because we didn’t used to see this until a few weeks ago for me. It’s annoying, but oh well, it is what it is. Although, it does make me wonder if/ what computer/ hacker has taken over the site that we are now seeing this particular “thing”.

Lynette,

Just thinking out loud here, but, do you have your browser settings configured to "clear all cookies and site data when closing" ??? That's often the "default setting" for security reasons, and might be why the forum website thinks you're a "new person" every time you open the link. If there's no "cookie to confirm you've been at that link before" it will appear that you're new every time you open the forum webpage.

Hi John. Nope, I have to clear cookies/ browser data manually by touching a “button”. I just went looking. Interestingly, I updated the iOS last night. Now, instead of me having to check the “I am a human” box as shown in my last photo, it (whoever it is) does it for me know and I just have time to read the sentence about checking to see if I’m human before it brings me to the forum website. So, the latest and greatest iOS update just automated the process for me.

I have difficulty navigating this website and it just got worse, which I didn’t think it possibly could.
Every time I go to a link it asks me 3 or 4 times if I’m human until it finally opens the page. It is the most frustrating and time consuming internet experience in my life and I was a computer instructor. Is there a work around for this?

What system are you using to access the forum? Phone app, internet type (dialup, DSL, cable, satellite or other, MS or MAC platform, version of software, VPN/security app/program ???

I've seen that some people have issues while others who are using a different set of parameters seem to never have any issues. If "everybody else" is getting online fairly easily and not having problems like you describe, it's not the forum, but how you're accessing it or what you're using to access the internet ?????

More information about your system would help "narrow down a list of potential reasons why you're having such problems and others aren't experiencing the same issues.

I did send a message to admin, I got an answer back and I thought she posted it in a public forum. Let me find it and if it’s not in a “public” forum I will paste what I can.

I don't think it's going away. The admins must feel it's a necessary step in preventing phishing robots from trolling the users.

The site team received a PM as well to answer the PM that Chuck sent to Janet. That PM states:

"The cloudflare browser check fires off for a number of reasons. We use it to stop bots, logins from weird places and when the server detects suspicious activity. VPNS and virus protection services are the most common trigger for the check. It's harmless but annoying. If you are still seeing this, you might check your privacy settings - they may be locked down tightly causing the query."

My work-around on iOS is to load the site from my bookmarks tab, let the computer verify I am, in fact, alive, then immediately re-load the site from my bookmarks tab. Then, you can hit the back button as needed to get back to the main menu, but not trigger the check. After a few hours, it will need to be done again, but at least it is not happening constantly and you get it out of the way right off the bat.

You are correct !!!!!

If you look at the bottom of the forum index page, you'll see a section titled "WHAT'S GOING ON".

That section lists "CURRENTLY ACTIVE USERS: 1162 (11 MEMBERS AND 1151 GUESTS)"

It's NOT the 11 members that concern us. It's the 1151 guests" If you spend a little time resolving IP addresses for those guests, you'll discover that about 40% resolve to Google Spiders, Research Bots and Commercial monitor sites that sell information to internet advertising agencies. About 5% resolve to legitimate "guests" or members who have not logged onto the forum. The CONCERNING PART OF THAT 1151 GUESTS IS THE 55% with IPs that resolve to Russia, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Romania and other "sometimes unfriendly countries" that don't have an "RV presence"... Why are they here? To collect YOUR information, often for illegal and threatening identity theft. It's simply a more sophisticated means of stealing stuff, very similar to the antiquated "Nigerian Prince" who had stashed all that money in a Swiss bank account for you and only needed your social security number and bank account number to process the payment to your bank, solving all your financial worries...

That's why you see the "are you human" security check.... It's an attempt to keep you and your personal information safe from illegal activity, not specifically to make you angry or to "mess with your easy login process"....

If you think about it, maybe it's more like the question: "Why do I have to put a keypad lock on my trailer"... The answer: To keep the "bad guys" from stealing your stuff"... Sure, it's annoying to have to carry keys to lock your stuff up, it's a little more convenient to have an "extra cost keypad lock" but in reality, that's nothing more than a "workaround to keep things safe"... It's still an inconvenience (especially in the rain or hail) to have to spend time unlocking a door.... Then there's that "home monitoring system" many of us have and the $50 a month we pay for someone to watch our safety system and call the cops when someone is "stealing our crap"... Isn't that, more or less, the same as having a "security guard program" on the website? To lock down and minimize the potentials for people stealing our crap?????

NEVER HIT THE BACK BUTTON....

Confirm Form Resubmission

This webpage requires data that you entered earlier in order to be properly displayed. You can send this data again, but by doing so you will repeat any action this page previously performed.
Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page.
ERR_CACHE_MISS

Why is there a back button presented if it is not to be used?

I visit other forum sites and never have this issue. Why is this site any different and configured to diminish the users experience?

LOL. The forum checks are a bit irritating but it's manageable and you get over it. My primary bank has a policy of making you change the password to your accounts frequently. Initially I was really aggravated and talked to various levels of their management all the way to their home office as they tried to convince me it was for MY safety/well being. After going at them a couple of times I had the choice to either accept it or change banks...which I detest doing. So I rationalized in my mind that it was needed....and lo and behold since then I've gotten so many notices of data breaches at various financial/business institutions. Since I have to do it I make myself feel better by using ugly passwords to make ME feel better. Petty and childish but it puts a smile on my face to type in something like "this is a crock of ....." - and I seem to remember them better!!

I can put up with a check that is "annoying but harmless"... but this check has gone beyond that. It interferes with the uploading of images in advanced mode. The check appears in the little upload window all the time now... and even though the check seems to pass (it blinks out very fast, usually without reporting success or failure, but I'm pretty sure I have seen a success message a few times), the uploads are rejected every time because some new "security token is missing." And I mean every time -- 100% of the time. And yes, I have reported it, but haven't heard a thing.

I don’t figure it’s going to go away anytime in the near future.

It doesn't have to go away, but it does have to be fixed to work.
