Recommended campground at Lake of the Ozarks

I'm thinking of going to the Lake of the Ozarks this summer. I'm looking for a campground recommendation.

Thanks

Daryl

We have only stayed at Lake Ozark State Park.. But we would recommend it to anyone..It has 4 sections. The very bottom one is closest to the lake..We really like that section..

We just camped at Lake of the Ozark State Park. It was great. Ha Ha Tonka State Park has great hiking and sights.

We have stayed at both Red Oak and Ozark Trails.

Red Oak was nice but where they park renters was hard to get into, the spots are not deep, and t he pads are gravel. We enjoyed our stay but it had draw backs. It is by a Dollar General and has lake access.

Ozark Trails is close to Walmart, was a mice place, but too had some drawbacks. The sites are all gravel, they ate not level and the sewer hook up was uphill. That made for difficulty dumping. There were great places to all the dogs.

I hope that this helps. Both were 50 amp full hook ups.

Ozark Trails

We stayed a few days at Ozark Trails Campground last month and were very satisfied. It's an older campground but well maintained and is an ideal location, midway between the two state parks (Lake Ozark and HaHa Tonka) and other sites in the area. Also close to Walmart and other businesses.
I highly recommend spending time at HaHa Tonka State Park. It has beautiful vistas and nice hiking trails. (We kayaked there, too.) Unfortunately, there is no campground at that park.
We were very surprised and impressed that there is no daily use fee for state parks in Missouri. Very nice policy!
