Refrigerator Freezing

I have a Keystone Springdale 266RSL. After several days of being on a trip the food in the refrigerator starts to freeze. I have moved the temp control arm down (as the instructions state) to raise the ref temp but nothing changes. The freezing problem happens when I am hooked up to 110v, not when it is running on Propane. Is there something else I should be doing?

Going by memory here, but I thought moving the arm down lowered the temp?

Don't think so. Cold air drops, so by raising the arm the fridge needs to get colder to trip the thermostat. I would but all my beers in the fridge...every time you go to get a beer, you will let out some cold air. I know this does not help. Hope you get it figured out.

Is it the upper or lower part of the fridge?
I've found that keeping food on the lower part and bottle stuff up top really helps with the freezing prob.
Also opening the fridge lots while grabbing stuff to cook with make things start to freeze.
As I always say, it's camping life and it's not like being at home.

If I remember correctly, the refrigerator thermostat only works in the AUTO mode. If you've got the refrigerator in the MANUAL mode (AUTO light off) then the thermostat is being bypassed and the refrigerator will operate continuously. Everything will freeze after a couple of days like this.

Double check to make sure the AUTO light is on and the GAS switch is not depressed. That will set the reefer to "auto thermostat electric" mode and you should be able to adjust the cold storage cabinet setting by sliding the thermistor slide up or down on the evaporator fins.

If you want to operate on GAS in the AUTO mode, just depress the GAS button and you should hear the gas burner ignite.

In Manual, you'll be able to store ice cream in the crisper drawers after a couple of days. The refrigerator is in "continuous cold" mode.....

Also, buy yourself the small battery operated fan for the refrigerator and this will keep circulation going and reduce freezing.

Good info - we sometimes want to run the refer on gas while we are connected to shore power and did not know that it would by-pass the thermostat.
I suppose a way around that would be to simply unplug the refer - that way it would be running on gas in the 'auto' mode.
