I need advice on a sofa bed

I have teenage sons that travel with us and I need a sturdy piece of furniture that is going to hold up to their abuse and offer them plenty of room to sleep. I have been reading reviews and checking out sites like this one:

https://campingmoz.com/best-rv-sofa-bed/

I am just not sure which one will work best for our needs. Have any of you made a recent sofa bed purchase and would be willing to offer advice. I want something that is going to last as long as possible, yet still be stylish.

After six years of fulltime living/traveling in our Alpine we have ordered new chairs and a loveseat-full-sofa sleeper. We decided to go with La-Z-Boy.

Also purchased the upgraded SlumberAir mattress.

This isn’t a recent purchase, but we like the tri-fold sofa that came in our Cougar. It has the foam bed, not an air mattress. I did add a 2” softer foam topper from Target that I just store under the sofa when not used. Over the past 4 summers using the camper, I have ended up sleeping on the sofa bed about a month or a little more total (the first time was for a 2 week trip east), and still like that bed. Whenever my parents travel with us they get the bed and we take the sofa. As a sofa, it has held up to our teens and their friends just fine.

We have also decided that the next camper we buy will have the tri-fold sofa in it and not an air mattress. We have both gotten tired of sleeping on air mattresses in relatives and friends campers that deflate over the night... I hope they have improved this since it has been 4 years since I have slept on one of these mattresses, but I’m not wanting one in our camper so I don’t have to deal with it if not.

Our Cougar XLite is the same year as vampress_me and probably has the same tri-fold sofa as her trailer. We've used it a few times and relatives that occasionally travel with us have slept on it for probably 40-50 nights total. They have never complained about being uncomfortable. It is "hands down" better than the air mattress sofa that was in our Springdale. I would not recommend any air mattress for "regular use" and would suspect that in an RV environment (hot/cold, humid/dry, and long term storage conditions) a vinyl air mattress probably wouldn't last longer than a couple years. Then, trying to find a "good fitting replacement" that will work like the original is usually an impossible task. Seems suppliers and furniture styles change annually in the RV business and too often the supplier is no longer even in business when replacement parts are needed.

I'd suggest the tri-fold sofa is probably the most durable, depending on the type upholstery you choose. The new "pleather" fabric has been known to peel after a year or two. I'd stay with a fabric that's durable and not "vinyl coated" if I were choosing a replacement. But, knowing that each DW (and some DH) don't have the same tastes as others, décor is an individual thing....

Yes indeed... we purchased "fabric" furniture this time. The Faux Leather did last about five years before starting to crack. As to the "air mattress" fulltime use would not be the best choice. We only have guests once a year maybe that stay the night.... don't want to make it too comfortable, if you know what I mean!

The 1-year warranty it offers is also a nice feature to have. It never hurts to have a little insurance against something like a tear or rip happening. And this feature will certainly offer this sense of comfort. All in all, this tri-fold RV sofa bed will more than met the needs of someone looking for one of these products.
Agree with the above. Have the same in out cougar 29rks 5th wheel. Did add a topper to it just to even it out some.
