Yesterday, it was "Stay off the Mackinac Bridge with everything taller than a sedan" Today, it's just "wind advisories and escorts for trucks with trailers"... We have 4 trees down behind the pole barn but no damage to anything but "branches"...

Plain M&Ms are like eating pancakes without syrup…only “deranged lunatics” (John Cleese’s voice) would choose them

I still recall the first Yugo I ever saw. I looked at the 3 lug nuts on the wheels and laughed, nope, not gor me!

Soda is that stuff you mix with scotch.
Let me add, I'm a bourbon drinker. I really don't like scotch.

I grew up on a farm in central illinois. Seems like every other person was employed in one way or another by GM. Sales, parts manufacture. At that time there was quite a system of small machine shops all pumping out various parts for GM. EVERYONE it seemed had a relative either farming or employed somehow by GM or both. We were a both family. My Dads dad had a car sales. My moms dad had a farm. We drove GM. Ford just was not on the table and I will admit that I have owned more than my fair share of new and used vehicles and most of the problems I experienced were either with Ford or Dodge products. Luck? Carma? Who knows?
Where I live now I see a lot of RAMS.

I seen this on a lot yesterday and if I hadn’t just dumped a bunch of time into my truck I’d sure like to trade

Still toying with the idea because a dually is just sexxy!!

Dunno... maybe I'm getting old but that hood scoop and those low-rider looking rims don't look right on any truck. Perhaps I should launch into "when I was a lad" story like everyone else but can't think of anything clever to say... I drive used Ford trucks because they are cheap (like me).

Around here we had plenty of GM's around Youngstown, then lots of Fords here in Akron and Cleveland. When Chrysler was still here, we saw a lot of those as well. Just not the pickups. That was all before the big Redesign in 1994 that put Ram on the map. I'm sure this was mostly because of employee and supplier's discounts. We still have some plants around, but the big ones are closed up. Now you see more Ford and Rams, but not by much. When I lived in Flint MI many years back, they thought my Chrysler GTS and Ford Econoline conversion van were foreign cars! We do have tons of Honda Civics and Accords because of the Marysville plant near Columbus.

They’re all interchangeable at this point. Ford vs Chevy vs Corvette vs Porsche vs Coke vs Pepsi.
If any of them truly made an inferior product, they wouldn’t be able to stay in business. We skew Chevy, but I’m driving a German Brit (mini) have a 32 year old Mercedes, ride a BMW motorcycle, owned an STi, two vettes, an Acadia…a PT cruiser when they were still cool. They’ve all been good and bad. Same goes for trucks.

I don't know that anyone could answer why one outsells another in a particular region but the employee discount remark probably holds a lot of truth. Let me first state, growing up and being into performance cars my go to brand(s) was Dodge and Chevrolets. After all the performance went away in the 80's every choice was relegated to a decal package until they got a handle on electronic fuel injection and learned what they could do with computers to both make power AND reduce emissions.
But going away from that, still, the same principle holds for performance in trucks today. Fuel delivery and computers. Something I have observed in the past 30 or so years though, is that commercially I see more Dodge Rams used in Hotshot service followed by Fords, and this is a diesel market. I believe part of the reason Chevrolet comes in last is that more Chevrolet (3/4 and 1 tons) are gas powered by comparison to Dodge and Ford. I don't have stats on the ratios sold per brand (that would be interesting) but it seems the Dodge and Ford buyers are leaning more toward the diesel option, whether the trucks are used commercially or not.
My preference still, today is GM for gas performance engines and I love my CTS V with it's LS-6 engine. It seems GM often under-rates the power numbers and while mine is rated at 400 horsepower, the dyno numbers show 377 hp at the wheels, which indicate numbers closer to the 450 hp range.
But for trucks I'm a fan of the diesel power plants and while Dodge has always done well with the Cummins, Ford has always impressed me with the solidly built trucks and now that they make their own diesel engines in house, they are my first choice. And that's coming from my old 97 7.3 to the 6.7 I have now. Worlds of difference.

There's a political dimension to the current state of affairs as well.
When I moved out here to rural Arizona, our nearby town had a thriving Chevy-Olds-Buick dealership and a smaller Ford dealership. The federal bailout of GM during the Obama administration wreaked havoc on the company. GM was forced to literally decimate its dealerships in order to comply with its terms. Our Chevy dealer was one of the ones who had his franchise revoked. The Ford dealership happily snatched up his physical plant and continues to do great business, while the former Chevy dealer is relegated to selling used vehicles and DIY sheds on the open-air gravel lot next door.
And the Ford dealer is now the sole dealership in a very, very big geographical region, with zero competition.

I had a Chevy 3500 P/u for my tow vehicle when hauling my race car around. Had a Slide-in camper in the bed so had plenty of load.
Had a 3500 as the chassis for my Coachmen Freelander Class-C and currently have their 4500 as chassis on my Freelander Class-C motorhome.
Solid 10.2 mpg and great ride. Passenger footwell is wider in the Chevy that what we saw in Ford Class-C motorhomes and that "sold" the wife on the Chevy vs the Fords. Both Motorhomes have the GM 6.0L and I had no problems with trips from Ohio to GA or OR or MT or WY. Would buy again. GM chassis does limit our selection of Motorhomes but anything other than GM chassis would be a deal breaker for us.

Horse pucky you are not. A gasser does not stand up to a diesel. All 3 diesels are pretty much the same. I own a Ford but will say the Cummins is the "go to" diesel if you are a purist.

Crapola! I owned one of what has earned the title "the worst car ever built" in the early 90's. At least once a week I would drive from Cheboygan to De Tour in the UP in pursuit of beaver (4 legged) Yes, big Mac was an adventurer.
