You can replace your original fuel tank and replace it with a larger one. I have a GMC dually, I was quoted a price of $1641 installed. I have a 100gal auxiliary tank with a 12 volt pump, a welding shop built it for me 12 years ago, I sometimes take the tank out. Sometimes a little diesel does get out but I mix a little Dawn dishwashing liquid with water and it normally takes care of any spilled diesel. I don’t have a problem with extra weight.

LOL, since I haul a bit of extra - it's 6.3 lbs/gallon for gas, 6.6 lbs/gal for methanol. And I might be hauling 54 gallons of methanol at any one time. The weight becomes key because I think at 1000 lbs you'd need to be placarded. Yes, that's 158 gallons of gasoline but you can get close to that quick. Going to a 3 day race I could be at 100+ easy on gasoline, more with both.

I have an RDS 37gal aux tank in my F350. It's gravity feed and the connection to the full pipe has a check valve that prevents any overflow or leakage. This is our third truck with an aux tank. We don't do marathon days, usually 250-300 miles so long distance isn't the issue. What it does give me though is when we head south I can fill it up locally at the best price around and then make it all the way deep into VA where Liberty and Sheetz compete for the lowest price for miles around. It also assures that we can reach our daily destination without refueling and I can unhook and use Gas Buddy to find the lowest price away from the high priced Interstate exits.

I doubt this tank will ever pay for itself in savings. I just like getting fuel on my terms not the fuel gauge's.

I installed a Transfer Tank combo tool Box, by better Built. 75 gal capacity. I paid $1,049.00 however the price has went up. I'm 100% satisfied, I installed the fuel filter in-line, so my fuel is filtered twice now. Clean fuel is a must on diesel Trucks. I try very hard to never cut into the existing fuel lines on a Truck controlled by computers. Good Luck on your choice.

Happy trails.
