Slow Leveler Retraction
When retracting our levelers, they’re moving slower than usual. The rear four levelers also stop midway up. Eventually, all of them retract 100% but it’s taking longer to do so. Any suggestions of what’s going on? 😁 Moda + Cherry

Sounds like your batteries are weakening.
Most likely the dealer put in hybrid cranking batteries good for short bursts to start engines rather than deep cycles that are much better suited for constant running jacks & slides. They will also have a much shorter lifespan than the deep cycles.
Are you plugged into shore power while operating the levelers? If not try that next time.

Sounds like you have the Lippert hydraulic leveling system and this stopping and starting is an indication that the 50 amp breaker that feeds the hydraulic motor is failing and likely should be upgraded to an 80 amp breaker that Lippert recommends. It would really help knowing what rig you have, make, model and year.

Thank you BB. We have a 2015 Fuzion 325 Toy Hauler. We’re 50a. Where can we acquire an 80a breaker? Moda + Cherry

Id also do a voltage measurement directly at the dual polarity solenoid on the retract side to see what the voltage is reading to the pump motor... and check the ground cable from the battery to chassis frame and make sure its a nice shiny clean contact point... especially since its not a new RV... corrosion, etc may have taken place behind the connection points you cant see
Also during colder weather the fluid viscosity thickens which in turn causes the fluid to move slower... there is a spec sheet out with alternate viscosity fluids if needed.

Thank you for your help! We’ve been in Northern ID and now Oregon. It’s been cold. We’ll order and figure out how to replace the 50a breaker with an 80a. We’re also thinking about replacing the fluid. It’s been about two years since we last did it and added the quart of Cat fluid to get rid of the pops. We’ll also check the battery ground.

Any idea how many quarts of transmission fluid we should buy to replace the old fluid?

Typically the reservoir tank for the Lippert Hyd System is FIVE Qts... I just bought a gal of AW32 this year and drained out my reservoir and put fresh hyd oil in the reservoir and cycled to get the air out...
You will still have about 2 Qts or more of fluid in the lines and hyd cylinders so you cant actually do a full drain and flush...

Oh! Only 5 quarts. 4 quarts in the reservoir and a quart sitting in the lines? Which brand of AW 32 do you use? I’m familiar with Hapco.
