Can we drive sprinter van with a car license?

Hi,
I would like to ask this question on behalf of my friend. He was in a confusion last day. To be frank, now I too in the same situation. He asked me whether it's possible to drive sprinter van with a car license? Is it possible? Can I get some suggestions. He read an article (http://www.truckloancenter.com/blog/...n-car-licence/) and he told me to check this. I think it's not legal, need a confirmation. Your feedback will always be appreciated.
