There's likely several feet of half inch black iron pipe and some copper tubing that extend the gas flow from the stove area to the furnace area. It may take 2 or 3 attempts at lighting off the furnace to clear all the air from that pipe.

Yes, give it a few tries to see if it clears. When that exact thing happened to us it turned out to be a faulty propane regulator. Your other Propane appliances won't notice a subtle drop in pressure but the furnace will since it has a high demand for flow. I replaced both regulators for Marshall Excelsior regs that matched the spec of each. No problems since.

Make sure when you open your propane tanks that you do so slowly...this is true for any high-pressure gas going to a regulator. You can damage the regulator by 'slamming' the full pressure of the gas into it rather than slowly exposing the regulator to the pressure.

I've only "ran out" of LP once. I haver an outdoor kitchen and and a grill connection on the rear bumper. I connected the full tanks, then connected the grill and turned on all the burners. It didn't take long to purge all the air out of the main line. Each branch off the main still had to be purged, i.e. the fridge, water heater, and furnace. I would turn on the burners (all of them) on the stovetop then try the furnace. That should purge the gas the gas line fairly quickly.
