Not defending hauling overloaded but I think Keystone should likely put a note in their specs indicating the the pin weights they tout will never been seen in the real world. A fella with a CDL was fooled into taking a published pin weight as reliable. Add to this their 1/2 ton and now 3/4 ton towable fictions and you wonder if Keystone believes they will benefit in some way from doing business in this manner. I know, I know... they all do it but it would be refreshing to see honest towing guidance for prospective first time buyers. And of course, dealerships are culpable as well...

The "published weight" of a fiver is the weight of a trailer without LP in the tanks, no batteries and no spare tire. Those items are dealer installed. That weight also does NOT include any "options" even though those "options" are included in a package from the factory. That's a real issue if the bedroom a/c isn't includded as it sets very close to the pin as do the batteries and LP tanks. Then the owner loads up the trailer and where do the cloths, bed covers, mattress topper etc go? Right over the pin. Add a washer/dryer and that typically sets right over the pin. Obviously the pin weight percentage will not remain constant so the "accepted standard" is to use 23% of gross trailer weight is used until actual weights can be obtained.

Our trailers at the shop have a tare weight. And that's what it is, all ready to go. Batteries, chains, spare all figured in. I know how front to aft loading works. My main A/C is over the axles, I don't have a second A/C or washer/dryer and I also
have storage behind the axles. So if I'm balancing a load, it should be neutral. I get it, it all falls back on a weight that should be labeled as an estimate. Quite honestly, if the bedroom a/c is never figured in, that's downright misleading. Especially since many rigs come standard with one.

With RV trailers you cannot compare them with commercial trailers. They are in no way related in regulations or government oversite. The only way to tell if the load in your fiver ios distributed equally is to visit a scale every time you use it. I have a travel trailer and I bought and use a Sherline scale to weight my tongue weight when we load up for a long journey. Having too much or too little weight on the tongue will adversely effect handling.

CDL driver for several years!
My experience with RV's or any trailer, equipment trailers, etc. The only way to get the exact weight is, simple, go to CAT scales at most Truck Stops. It will show your exact weight. I have weight hundreds of loads because the last Trucking company, our loaded weight was 80,000 lbs. That included the Tractor (Truck). Many class 8 Trucks have sliding 5th wheel hitches and the trailer axle would slide also.
The Pin weight is very important on most RV's. Today the manufactures are making 5th wheels as light as possible, the materials used in many cases are substandard. Cost to manufacture RV's, are up, why?. Can not get people to work. I went to Camping World this AM help wanted, every Camping World is need help, and well as in Lowes, Walmart, etc. Tech's are almost impossible to find. I believe it will get worse for some time. You can't be under GVWR and 750# over payload! You can be under GCWR, but that is a PULLING number not a CARRYING number, that is what the PAYLOAD number is. As a CDL holder you should understand these numbers.

Yup, I'm an idiot. I meant to print the total combined weight, not vehicle weight. I never guessed RV trailer specs to be so far off the commercial specs I'm used to.
