baggage door slam latches

Just realized drivers side basement baggage door latch doesn't lock securely. Are these "slam latches" adjustable? Keyed lock works fine.
Thanks
Jack

They are adjustable, kind of. You have to loosen the screws that mount the latch to the door, adjust the entire latch, and retighten. Sometimes you can also adjust the catch as well if the have a separate one that is mounted with screws.

Check the catches at the bottom of the door that the latches drop over. They are notorious for being maladjusted or installed incorrectly.

Entire door frame was installed poorly which caused the door to have bad and no seal in one lower corner. I had to add additional seal to stop potential water from coming in- could actually see daylight. After adding additional seal I put shims under latch striker (catch) to lift it up so door will now lock. Heading out Wed so this is temporary until I can rework door; OR, maybe leave as is if it works OK.

Thanks for your input.
Jack

I have shimmed many frames so it would allow the compartment door to latch. If it’s working, leave it alone

^^^This is what I've done....leave it alone. The more you "tweak" the worse it gets.
