Pre-Season Checkup

Well we brought Keith home to install some X-mas presents and get ready For Next weekends trip to Fayetteville.

Things installed worked on

Battery cutoff
Door Springs (no more comments from DW!)
Starched pleated blinds ( huge improvement)
New personalized floor mat

Checked all the roof seams noticed some cracks that weren't there when winterizing. (Dicor on order)
When I was installing the switch it worked great on initial test then once everything was buttoned up we had nothing on battery. On further investigation the positive cable came loose at the fuse block. It was barely crimped! Glad I made it all year (3000 miles) without it coming loose.

All in all got a lot done and he should be ready to go.

Question on pleated blinds

"Starched pleated blinds (huge improvement)"

Would you mind sharing your method and the improvement you mentioned? If you are talking about the blinds not going up smoothly and folding on the pleated edges, then I am all ears! Thanks

Also how do those springs work (perform). I imagine they don't deter the operation of the outside door/screen door when they are connected and they 'auto close' the screen door when separated...but to they work/reliably in does the screen door actually latch when the spring action pulls it closed?

Simple can of heavy duty spray starch. I had the blinds fully closed I sprayed them down fairly heavy. Raised them all the way to the top I had to help the folds (pleat) like I always had too. Kept them raised overnight then once I pulled them down the next day they went up (Pleated) without helping the folds. Sounds weird but if you have them with that issue you know exactly what I'm talking about. It drove me nuts!!!

Springs are great they only work on screen door and close it shut latching the latch.

One spring wouldn't latch but 2 sure do.
The DW would always comment about me forgetting to shut the screen. Now she can't!

The door springs will close the screen door and latch it IF the door and latch is adjusted properly and the wind doesn't blow it open so that it latches on the exterior door. A lot of folks with small kids use them. I've never had an issue with holding on to the door and closing it gently myself so we don't need the springs.
