Keystone Cougar 2021 26rbs

Good Morning, Chip and Carla from Michigan! We bought our Cougar in June 2021 and love it. Question: The interior facia on our slideout- the center piece popped out and the two long pieces of facia on each side of that sprung out! Suggestions for the best way to repair this. We currently are holding the center piece together with c-clamps! The temp here today is-1! It was stapled with very short staples. Shall I restaple it...would glue be better or other ideas?
Second question: Is it harmful to keep the slideout for long periods of time? Due to the extremely cold temps here in MI right now, do we need to be extra careful in bringing the slide out in? The trailer is in our driveway and not covered as yet, as we need to repair the facia. Thank you!

If short stapes didn't hold the trim originally, doubt I would use that as a primary method to hold the trim. Perhaps a small bead of adhesive and then staple. Not familiar with the trim you speak of but it was likely installed with the short staples for a reason. Perhaps longer fasteners are inappropriate as there may not be much room behind the trim?

I don't think cold will hurt the slide but not sure about snow on the slide as far as loading goes.

That center medallion usually is the only access to the slide motor "emergency drive". Gluing the medallion in place will make it harder (or even impossible) to get the slide retracted in the event of a malfunction. As for the longer side pieces, I'd drill holes "evenly spaced" along the length, then use decorative wooden plugs to cover the screw heads.

I'd do the same with the medallion, realizing that it will need to be removed with "every emergency"...

As for retracting/extending the slides, remember that in extremely cold weather, the rubber seals will be stiff and hard to bend. They may be frozen to the slide walls (from the condensation that collects there) and if you're not careful, you may "literally rip them out of the wall" or break/tear them as you pull in the slide... So, PROCEED WITH CAUTION when moving the slides in extremely cold temperatures.

Hey John!
Geez, thank you soooo much. Really good info...we had no idea until earlier today that we might need to access that area in an "emergency". We had just brought our RV home from the dealer for warranty work - opened the door and the two facia boards were on the other side of the RV! crazy. We will definitely use the info you have shared with us. Hopefully we can get this resolved. AND WE WILL JUST LEAVE OUR SLIDE OUT - "OUT" UNTIL IT WARMS UP ALOT! Have a great weekend, Carla & Chip in Fenton
