under carpet transition to slide [soft]

Hi: Hoping someone can help us out here, we have a 2015 keystone retreat 39fkss and recently under the carpet transition where the carpeted slide flap lays over has become really soft, it appears that there is some webbing or something under this 12" piece of carpet that forms a transition from the vinyl to the slide carpeting, my wife rolled her ankle in this area, short of tearing up this piece of carpet which runs the entire length of the slide and it looks to be very secure on the vinyl. i crawled underneath the rig but you can't see anything, very nervous about ripping up this 14 ft x 12 inch piece of carpet, has anyone experienced this issue? to be clear this is not on the slide but on the main cabin floor

That carpet is there to keep the part of the slide underneath from scratching your vinyl flooring when you put the slide out or pull it in. I removed the carpet completely from the main cabin and now have to use 1/8" plywood strips under the slide when I pull it in to keep my vinyl floor from being scratched. I left the carpet in my slide as it overhangs the black hard rubber strip that goes over the edge of the slide because it is ugly and it was less effort to just let the carpet stay in place.
