Refrigerator problem

I have a dometic 8 cubic ft refrigerator. The freezer gets down to temp but the fridge stays 70. I know nothing about this type of stuff. Where do I start? I have moved the temp slide thing up and down with no change. Thanks

I feel like I have a cooling problem also. Mine will only cool to 44-47 degrees. Sure would like a cooler fridge.

I had a similar problem on a brand new unit. Open up the back of the fridge on the outside of the trailer and look for any yellow powder type residue near or on the tubing. My cooling unit, which is the entire back of the refrigerator, needed to be replaced and it has worked now going on 4 years. It was replaced under warranty.

Is the thermal coupler in the thingy or did it pull out and just laying on the shelf.

It is in there. I threw a couple freezer packs in the fridge to try and help it cool down. We will see how it is in the morning.

That “thingy” that’s in the fridge between the fins is the thermister. If you take the cover off the control board you will see where it plugs in.

Unplug it and see what it does. Unplugging it “forces” the cooling unit into Mac cool. Is your fridge on a slide? If so there should be fans at the bottom of the top vent. Are they running?

My fridge is on a slide. I have no idea if I have fans or not. Don’t have ladder to check. Guess I will check when I get it home.

The fans will be below the top cooling tube with all the fins. There is a limit switch that should be screwed to the last fin on the left. You can jumper the two wires to test the fans. Then you can test for continuity across the tabs of the switch. It won’t show continuity until it reaches set temp, I’m not sure what that is because we use a heat gun to heat it before the fins get hot.

Seems to be working today. My IR gun shows 40*. I'll try the thermometer unplug and see if it gets colder. if it does I guess I will need to pick up a new one.

Before doing the unplug, I noticed there was someplace in the wire also. I was able to pull the slack into the refrigerator cabinet and move the thermometer about 1.5 inches higher. Trying that first. Will report later. Thanks for all the help and recommendations so far.

Just curious, but in normal operation it does take up to 12 hours to cool down. Most of us start them up the night before loading yo allow for this time lag. IRS not like your sticks and bricks model.

So pulling a little extra wire did the trick. Fridge is 36* now. Usually I set it up at home and fill with cold groceries. This year we wound up using it straight from storage. Which is at a family members house. Thanks for the help and enjoy your weekend.
