proper sealant/caulk product question

While getting my keystone hideout 298bhds ready for the season I noticed the plastic insert where the power cord stores was loose and needs some caulking. Also, while taking off the winter cover, it got hooked on the license plate and broke the mount. So I have the new parts and am ready to install them. My question is what sealant or caulk should I use around these new parts? Thanks

Butyl tape is the most common product used. Scrape off all the old and then put new on the part to be installed. Comes in 1/2" or 1" wide, I like the 1" for the parts your describing. You can use a plastic putty knife to trim the stuff that squishes out. You can also use a thin head of clear silicone to further seal out moisture after using the tape.

The tape I have is the type body shops use. It has a strip of paperlike material in between the rolled up butyl. Can't remember the name of the product as it's about 10 years old. I keep it sealed in a heavy duty baggy.

Yeah has paper backing but still all stuck together as far as putting it in the sun. Another problem finding some of that At least was warm enough for awhile to get dewinterized and things tested, ready to go now for first trip.
