Ramp Door Spring

I want to add an additional spring to my ramp door on my 2007 Raptor 3712TS to make it easier for my wife to open and close when she wants. There is a space at each end for additional springs. I have the spring. My question is how do you remove the plugs at the end hinges so I can push the hinge bar out enough to add the spring?

Re: Ramp Door Spring

Looking at it, I would keep the ramp door closed and locked for support. Then I would remove the square head screws that hold the hinge to the lower frame.

Slide that piece inboard and then maybe some additional support on the hinge rail. Then remove the screws for the plate on the door. At that point you should be able to rotate that hinge and see if the roll pin is drilled through. If it is, then a drift will allow you to remove it so you can push that plate inwards.

At that point the end and cap will be exposed and I'm betting there is another roll pin holding the cap on.
