New to Keystone

Picking up a 2017 cougar X-Lite 28RDB 4 days. Trading in a 2008 Heartland Sundance 30.5' 5th wheel. Gaining 2.5' and loosing 1400lb. The family cant wait. Pulling with a Tundra 5.7L 4WD. Pulled the old one like a dream. The Cougar should even pull better.

Been looking at a 2016 Tundra SR5. I have a Cougar Xlyte 27 RDS, fifth wheel. 7140 dry weight, plus about a 1,000 pounds of water, food, clothes etc. What do you think? Is the 5.7 Toyota enough truck to pull through the WESTERN mountains? I have a 5.3 liter Chevy now, 1/2 ton, and it really groaned after we passed Denver.

Tim, do you think that extra money you would put out for Toyota would be worth an extra 15% more torque and 15% more horsepower? If you search this site (and not very far back) you will find plenty of info on towing a 5th wheel with a Toyota. What if Mama stopped at Camping World to "just look around" and got the hots for a little larger trailer? (Yes, I can speak from experience) Then you would have to find the Chevy dealer and get the hots for a larger truck. Go ahead and put the horse before the cart and then let her look to her heart's content. At that point you would have the truck to pull it.
