I have spent months researching this as I have moved my complete solar system from my cottage to my trailer so I took the time to finally learn all about it. Without getting into a huge amount of detail (unless you want to hear it), you realistically won't be running your AC or microwave on solar power. I have a system that is designed for a house and it would only be able to power the AC for a very short period of time. That's with 12 6volt deep cycle batteries and 420 watts of solar power. What size system are you thinking about installing?

O wow, ok was not thinking that i would need that much. We was really just looking to run the A/C, for we don't cook with microwave. Thanks for the help it kind of put in prospective what we was thinking. As we are first timer with a travel trailer.

No problem at all.... I'm a total newbie as well. Bought my 30ft cougar just as the snow was starting to fly so spring cannot come soon enough! Just to give you some reference... a 13,000 btu AC unit would drain 2 6volt (220amp hour) batteries down to 50% in one hour.

Unless you want to or even can pack around a ton of 6 volt batteries, you won't be at all happy with trying to run your A/C from solar panels. It's just not practical or even doable in most RVing situations.

You'll be far better off using a generator to run your A/C.
