Smoke Detector

The smoke detector in my 30REPR Bullet Premier keeps beeping and will not stop while parked in my driveway. It runs off a 9v battery. Whether the camper is plugged up or not it will not stop until you take the battery out.
Does anyone have a answer to my problem?

Have you tried replacing the battery with a new one?? That is usually why they beep. If not this, I have no idea.

vallboss2, Howdy;

If it still keeps on beeping after a battery replacement throw it out and get a
new one.

Ours did that.. drove me nuts. Changed battery, still did it. I took the front cover off in case lint or dust was in there, didn't see anything, but after I put it back together it worked fine. Haven't heard a peep out of it since.

OK, guys . . . PLEASE do not throw smoke detectors in the trash! PLEASE!

Look at the back of the smoke detector. Most battery powered smoke detectors use an "ion smoke sensor" that is "powered" by a small button of radioactive material (I think cobalt or radium . . .) If you look at the back of the detector, you will probably see the wheeled-trashcan symbol with a big "X" over it. Most all the time, you can turn the smoke detector over to a local fire station and they will properly dispose of it.

We have enough harmful substances in landfills and leaching into the ground water . . .

My goes off in my yard when 12 volt battery of my trailer ran low so I would plug in an it would be fine. Now I put a disconnect switch right at my battery an shut it off completely when I go to storage.

Thats why I still have the one I took out of my trailer! took it to the fire dept they said to throw it out... go figure! so when I get enough of them i'll send one of my old r/c planes to North Korea and drop it on the little guy with the big mouth!! I am not kidding i still have the old one someday they will take it.

Disposal of smoke detectors

I did a quick search and found this:

http://www.ehow.com/how_6525025_disp...-detector.html

http://www.epa.gov/rpdweb00/sources/smoke_dispose.html

And I also found out I was wrong about the radiation source - it's Americium-241 which does have a long half life. "We" really don't want that in the landfill.

However, Barney, since the radiation source is Americium, you might have the best "politically incorrect" solution!
