Cougar 327RES

I have a 27' Cougar 1/2 ton series and am looking "upgrading" to the 327RES. The 2014 model will be available the end of July but I may have the option of buying a 2011 model. Does anyone have any idea what the differences may be between the older and the newer models? I believe the 2011 is in excellent shape and obviously the price would be attractive. And what type of things should an inspection cover (bearings, brakes, ??)

We have a pre-delivery inspection checklist available on the forum which you can access and download by going to the Keystone Questions section of the forum. Here, you will find a PDI at the top of the list of threads. When you are doing your walk-through, print it off and take it with you. It includes most but not all things you should look for when doing your pre-inspection.

Try going to the Keystone website to check out the specs of the 327 in 2014 compared to 2011. The site does have specs for many of the earlier models. Just follow the links.

Information and Specifications on older models

Check on the Keystonerv.com website like Festus mentions as they have information and specifications on the older models.

We purchased a 2012 'left-over', and there are some items that are slightly different from the then current 2013 models. I would follow up with that for any differences. We noticed a big difference between the weights of the different year models, for example on our 2012 291RLS, ( 2013 weight is 7358/2012 - 7123/2011 - 6917/2010 - 6825). I really don't know what they did to increase the weight over the years, but when we weighed our on the local grain elevator scale, it was 7082 pounds, so the provided weight was fairly close. The hitch weigh listed however is given as 1155 for the first 3 years, and then 1115 for 2013, when the gross weight is given as 7385, which is the heaviest?

The hitch weight I got as 1109, so both the gross weight and hitch weight were slightly less, but I assume the numbers given by Keystone are on the conservative(high) side, since if someone found it less, like me, I'd be happy, but if I found it on the high side, I could/would complain.

We have an 2011 327RES and love it. We recently had a walk thru on a 2014 model. If I remember it had a metal sink, fireplace and slightly different wall paper accents and different couch/recliner material and color. What we saw that we didn't like was the white material used to cover some of the lights. Thought it was cheap and would get dirty/damaged quickly. I also liked the handles on the newer models basement doors. I wouldn't pass on a 2011. DW and I couldn't see a reason to spend the money to upgrade.

Thanks! Those w are the differences I saw also. Now we'll just have to weigh the condition of the 2011 versus the cost of the 2014.

Two steps up to bathroom landing from living room landing. larger cabinet at the end of the queen bed and larger exit window to front side of camper. different couch. I have glass over all my accent lights. NO fire place but we like the extra storage that gives us but a fireplace might be nice on cool day/night.
We like the access to frig and bathroom while it is closed. Waterpump is behind the center of the basement wall, just so you know when you look for it.
Over all we love our 2011 327res, you will love either model..
