TrailAir EquaFlex revisited

Our 2012 Cougar came equipped with the TrailAir Equaflex equalizers by Lippert.
Due to a medical issue, we have only put 4000 miles on our 5er since we brought her home in October of 2011. I was under the trailer today measuring for a wet bolt kit when I noticed that the rubber on the equalizers is badly cracked. The portion of the rubber that extends beyond the housing looks as though it is coming apart. Contacted Lippert. Very nice lady in customer service asked me to send pictures, but, also reminded us that the trailer was out of warranty.
Has anyone else had this issue? I did a forum search and did not find the info I needed other than some threads regarding the Dexter E-Z Flex. I will try to post photos

I had the EquaFlex system on my 2011 291RLS High country, they cracked and when I called Lippert received no help. Out of one year warranty. Went with the EZ flex from Dexter with wet bolts. Swap took a couple hours, so far over eight thousand miles and no issues. Just finished inspecting and packing the bearings last weekend, all looks good. Photos in my profile of the old system & new. HAPPY CAMPIN........

Thanks for the response - and sharing the good info. I will have to check the welds on ours. I was concerned about what appears to be weather cracks or tears in the rubber. Obviously, the welds would be of more concern. Heard back from Lippert - they needed more pics - this time they want to see a photo of each spring - they say it is possible the trailer has been overloaded - I know it has not been but no way to prove that.

I have 2011 model with same Trailair system, looks OK after 37,000 miles. A lot dirtier than yours though.

Thats normal for the Equa-flex. The rubber quality is not very good and they split under compression. I replaced mine about 6 mos. ago because they were getting pretty shabby looking, but my trailer has at least 20,000 mi. on it. I also installed a Dexter wet bolt kit so the system will articulate like its supposed to. Maybe this will enhance the life of the rubber compression members.

After having traded several emails with a very nice lady named Emily at Lippert customer service, a new set of Trailair equalizers is on the way. Lippert is covering parts & shipping. Labor is on me. I will intsall wet bolts while I have it apart. I feel Lippert stepped up and stood behind their product on this one.
